Has anyone else ever received phone messages warning them that they are in an area at severe risk?

I was a bit surprised, and thought that some people might find it most alarming!!

As in gps automated texts?

That's the sort of thing these new smart motorways are promising

I've certainly walked into shopping centres or pubs and suddenly getting messages about offers

"To be fair the A38 near us is closed since it has just flooded"

Just checked your profile to see where you are after saying A38.

Within 10 miles and I have the River Trent less than a mile from my house and it has burst its banks pretty heavily.

I'm on the canal too so I'm glad the floodgates are going there job properly or it would be flooding back up to my house.

I'm quite well surrounded by water in my area but still dry here

Fingers crossed it stays dry here, I know there are plenty of places close by that are flooded.

Meeting up for a cuppa would be lovely xx

Don't you have to sign up for those?

Floodline is a Government run service.

I get the texts and phone calls, because I want them.

No, never lived in a flood zone. If I did I wouldn't need the government to hold my hand when it happens, id just get on with it.

This isnt the EU its the UK.

I'e been stuck in traffic for a good half an hour. Roads around Shrewsbury are gridlocked.

Took me an hour to drive home. The banks of the Severn have burst and flooed a lot of the town.

I hope Jim is ok

Oh no! That is awful to hear. I work on the outskirts and don't have much access to what's going on

Glad you got home safe
