Why is it usually the ones who use filters put a status up asking for “ genuine “

I think filter use is very common. People are surprised that I don't. Here I am, as I am.

But I think enhanced pictures and "are mostly who you say you are" are different things.

I don’t like the filters that change the way you look. They’re ok for a bit of fun but it’s so obvious loads use them on here. Don’t see the point in sending someone pics you’re thinking of meeting where you look totally different.

We change pics go black and white sometimes and crop or adjust exposure, but that's it. No filters.

Indeed. People need to be specific about filters to be honest.

A filter (changes the tone or colouring, or brightness, contrast etc) can enhance a pic a great deal but not to the point of deception.

In fact these kinds of filters are a lot less deceptive than flattering angles which hide aspects of ourselves. I'm not shitting on people that do, hell most of us do it. Just that not all filters are always a bad thing.

Black and white is a filter, hate to break it to you.

You are not alone, the majority of us are. Which is my point really. If its a bad pic we will do what we can to make sure it's as flattering as possible.

Well yes I think everyone does that! I’ll cut my arm out coz it looks fat or something like that. But it’s still me. I change the colouring of pics sometimes and I always wear make up anyway that’s just me. I’m talking about the ones that get rid of lines and add lashes etc, totally changing your face. Personally don’t see the point unless those people don’t intend to ever meet and just like the attention, which is fair enough. Just don’t send them as a face pic if you’re planning to meet that person. I think it’s deceitful.

Agree but it doesn't change the picture fundamentally, does it? You still see the same image just minus colour.

Same here. What you see is what you get. If our photos dont do it for people, the real thing wont either. Our assumption is people wouldn't message us to begin with if they dont like the look of us.

Indeed. I'm a huge fan of black and white pics. But that is also my point, filters are so much more than just changing the look to the point of deception which is what most people tend to associate filters with these days.
