FabSwingers.com forum: Watched a bad date

They had espresso martinis, a cheese board, sandwiches and a dessert selection. This isn't just a normal cheap coffee date.

Anyways, throughout this date:

- she looked at and responded to texts on her phone 19 times. I get kids, babysitter, etc. etc. but this far out of the normal scope.

- she complained about the cheese selection and we had to swap out the brie for cheddar and complained that the martinis weren't served in a mug (Who the fuck out swaps out brie. Not even going to start.) (I'm not going to start on the mug either).

- while he was in the bathroom, she sipped the rest of his drink because she was almost done, ordered 2 more (these are 12 dollar martinis) and looked at his phone and saw she couldnt unlock it so put it down (I see this alot).

- he looked up when the new drinks came and I heard him say oh, ok I didnt know there was another round coming

- he was trying so hard to engage her and she laughed, conversed, etc but it was nothing engaging as you can see the conversation was not going anywhere

- She brushed her hair at the table and then pulled the hair out of her brush and let it fall to the ground

- she flicked bits of her sandwich onto the floor and then complained she didnt like it.

- She then excused herself once her drink was done to the bathroom then proceeded to motion to me, that she needed a safe way to leave as he was saying abusive/sexually aggressive things towards her and shes scared.

I let her out the back door and called her a taxi.

I then told the guy who had her as a date that she left, and gave him a gift card covering his next date with us. The table next to him - paid for his meal.

I've had a few bad dates, including one where I left out of the back door but certainly not due to poor manners on my part.

If we are simply bystanders then we don't really know how accurate our interpretation of the situation is, so I'm not sure I'd be so quick to slate the woman

I’ve only had one truly awful date and that left me feeling awful and knocked my confidence and put me off “dates”.

Fab socials restored that a bit.

Their date sounds a bit sad. A lot of effort made (so clearly someone was keen) - hopefully they’ll both go on to find their perfect partner.

Phone checking is a right turn off.

Two sides to every story I guess. Her table manners may have left a lot to be desired but if she perceived he was saying "abusive/sexually aggressive things towards her" and she was scared then fair enough to do a runner.

I'm presuming you were working there OP but with all due respect unless you were actually sat on their table for the duration of the date (and that would be a bit

) then I guess you couldn't hear everything that was being said.

I've had dates with people who smile and charm the wait staff but are chatting weird shit to me.

While people watching is fun, you're putting your own spin on what is actually going down.

I’ve had nicer fab socials than actual normal dates, maybe there’s less expectations meeting off here as you are both on the same page already?!

Is there a reason you were able to monitor her behaviour so closely?

She does, on the face of it seem very rude but you know how many times she looked at her phone.

I literally just notice everything. I can tell you just about everything about anybody who walks in. Plus I have the security screens up in front of me while working so I can always see/hear.

Keen observer maybe or just years of making a game out of people watching.

I wonder what made her behave so rudely. A friend of mine went for a drink with a guy once, he went to the loo and never came back. She felt humiliated and was very upset by his actions.
