Cancelling a meet.

I am guessing most people have had to do it or had it done on them on the odd occasion but what is the minimum notice someone should give you and how late is too late to cancel?

(I am excluding illness from this as its an unforeseen event)

Min of 30 mins before the person travelling sets off seems fair.

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

Suppose it depends on the circumstances, but as soon as they know would be good...

I always tell people that I dont mind if they cancel anytime before I leave the house, as long as they let me know, otherwise I get my voodoo doll and pins out

I would imagine some woman put a couple of hour effort into preparing for a meet and half an hour might be a bit frustrating when your all dolled up and ready to rumble.........

No good point some would need long but I was thinking last possible time slot. I have only ever cancelled 3 meets but gave the best part of 10 hours notice as it was only fair.

I rarely cancel once a meet has been arranged, and the only reason I would have for cancelling is 'unforeseen circumstances'. I have no 'minimum notice' that I give, they find out as soon as I do. Whether its a week, a day, or a minute beforehand.

Is the obvious answer not

'as soon as you realise you can't make it'?

Ideally at least an hour before I need to start my journey to the meeting place, so that I do not have to put on the wall paint and make myself more presentable etc...

Unless a last minute dire emergency, at least 2 hours

id say as soon as you know you cant make it, you cant put a time on it as you may not know till last min, if your baby sitter dont turm up (just an example) you cant let them know 2 hours in advance as you dont know till your waiting to leave and they're not there

"as soon as you know you arent going to make it"

Its impossible to say, once i came on the morning of the meet, another time one of my kids was ill and off school, so i was only able to give a couple of hours notice. Life happens.

I had a meet Friday gone, I saw him pull up outside my house & I heard a knock at the door. I answered it,& it was not him, but a friend. He was still outside the house, sat in his car! Think thats the least notice I've ever given, that the meet was off!

We would say 24hours notice although something unexpected may happen just before someone sets out, shit happens i suppose.

It all depends on the situation. As soon as you know you can't make it you should tell people. The sooner the better is always best and most defiantly before someone has set off that's hardly ever acceptable.

Few hours before is acceptable. Some situations don't allow that much notice so just as soon as you know I suppose. I've had one cancel an hour after they were supposed to arrive

If genuine and you message the other explaining then should all be good to re-arrange.

Its not fun to be contacted an hour late, I hope they apologised.

I always expect them to cancel really, loads here say they will and don't turn up (should be banned I think) thankfully loads are still genuine and a great time to be had by all.

I guess if for some reason you've just been arrested the dilemna arises - who do you use your one phone call to contact - your meet to cancel, or your solicitor! lol

I have bailed as the person turned up, couldnt be helped as I had an emergency at that moment.. Normally however I will cancel about 3 hours before if it looks like there COULD be an issue.

As soon as you know is the way to go about it

We all have lives and commitments outside of here. It's when someone does not have the decency to bother informing you that is an issue

Or

If they cancel and then meet someone else
