In February last year on the 20th I had open heart surgery I had my aortic valve replaced with a mechanical valve and a pacemaker fitted a week later at Leeds general infirmary. Who else has had open heart surgery? Come on I want to see you fellow heart warriors.

Barton upon Humber

Double heart bypass here, and member of the “Zipper Club”, should have been a triple, but they are going to stent the other when it causes me problems.

I haven't received a letter from my GP saying I have to, but my work has imposed it anyway, so working from home for the foreseeable at the minute.

One stent, nothing too dramatic but it was still a traumatic experience.

Near Wells

Born with a hole in my heart, no problems just regular check ups when I was a kid.

All was fine until I reached my forties and I became terribly ill. A long story short, I was informed I possibly had two holes, so I went for a stent to be fitted.

They had to open me up as I actually had four holes, so two stents were required. The heart actually tried to correct itself and one of the valves closing too much to stem the blood flow so I had some kind of operation on that.

I didn't recover as there was a virus on one of the stents, so another six weeks in hospital.

15 years later I've never been better
