It would've been Manchester Arena 1999 or 2000, can't remember which. I went to Radio 1 One Big Sunday the same year (I think!)

That's the one! Went with my first "proper" boyfriend and his mates. The first time I'd been allowed out in town at night. Boyfriend was 6ft 7in so pretty safe

"Never been to a gig. Dont fancy it at all. Whaaaat? There's no one you'd want to see live? " I like music a lot but I've never liked 1 particular band enough to want to go and see them live. Had the chance to go to a festival once till I found out about flying cups of piss! Just not my cup of tea.

"Oh Lord. It was Boyzone, OK Don't you judge me I would have went with you. They were fun! I was in love with Ronan Keating " They should just do a massive boy band festival. NKOTB, Backstreet Boys, Take That or Boyzone, Nsync, Boyz 2 Men, 98 degrees and Richard Marx (since he helped write most of all of their songs) Instead of t-shirts they'd have to sell underwear though.

"April 1965. The Tamla Motown Revue, Wigan ABC. Supremes, Martha and The Vandellas, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles and Earl Van Dyke. Georgia Game was also on the bill. The theatre was almost empty. As a young school kid I had bought one of the cheapest tickets but was allowed on the front row because so few people were there. " Saw Martha Reeves and Smokey Robinson & the Miracles on a Motown bill in Liverpool not long after the new arena was built. I can't remember who else was playing but we were definitely dancing in the aisles/streets

"Rather than gigs it was a lot of live DJ sets for me with the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell, Lisa Lashes etc in my late teens to mid twenties. Once I got bored of that and got back into bands it was the Fratellis I went to see live first." There's one paul van dyke track i love, i ended up getting one of his albums on the back of it. There's a really good album called "miles gurtu"..it's an album by robert miles. He's prob known best for the trance song "children". (the album is a collaboration of jazz musicians mixed with his electronic stuff)

We didn't ask what he got up to. The fact he came home, in one piece, looking more or less the way he did when he left was enough for us He clearly had a whale of a time with a bunch of older mates.
