It was just pure thoughtlessness. He also forgot my birthday 3 times. Not entirely sure why I put up with him for so long

My first husband got his friend to write a Valentine's card and leave it outside our door. He then took great delight in telling me it was a joke and his friend was in on it. .

I pointed out that he was no longer 12 giggling with his pals about a hilarious trick. It didn't go down well.

I HATE that. Someone asked me what I would like as a gift once, I showed them a specific,easy to obtain item. Another person told them I'd prefer something different...so they got that instead

We don't and never have. It wasn't such a big thing when we got together anyway. Most people just sent them to the ones they hoped to get together with.

The commercial aspect of it annoys me.

We were ordering the toys anyway, took advantage of a Valentine "special" offer. We dont really buy birthday or Christmas gifts either. For birthdays we'd rather go and do something, go away for the weekend etc. Christmas we prefer just spending time with our kids and families, we don't need stuff. Maybe we're old fashioned?!

Toys are for life not just for Valentine’s

We only really get each other cards, and I will often get her some sort of sloth gift as she likes sloths

I don't know.

Mr N buys me things all the time, if he sees something he thinks I'll like he gets it for me. Not huge expensive things but small, thoughtful stuff.

I have no problem with people who enjoy marking dates and anniversaries in different ways though

Not rubbish but odd I suppose, a new wheelbarrow, bales of shavings, but I did buy him an iron for his birthday lol, the door went at 7.30am with a parcel got excited, but was only printer cartridges boooooo, although being taken out clubbing sat night and Birmingham bizarre bazaar shopping Sunday

People celebrate love in different ways. I love Valentine’s Day (as you’re all probably aware and sick of hearing) but I’m not really a big fan of gifts. I think someone giving you their time with is gift enough. I know it should be done all year but we all get wrapped up in work, families etc that sometimes it’s nice to have something in the calendar that takes priority and everything else can wait

My ex asked for a hairdryer as hers was getting old.

I bought her a towel.

Before you have a go, I did buy her a £100 hairdryer too. Just couldn't resist winding her up.
