Howdy, well on Monday I was told I was being made redundant.... Sucks but there's nothing I can do about!

Question is, is 47 too late to change a career? I've been in project management for 20 years... Thinking of something different but no idea what!

My experience doesn’t directly translate due to age differences and experience differences, but what I can say is that I’d make sure you’re financially able, and mentally prepared to either:

1. Afford to maintain your current lifestyle

2. Willing to make sacrifices to achieve it

You’ll inevitably earn considerably less and it will last for years. Life’s not all about money, I’m very happy with my choice to swap. It’s just not been easy being more frugal because of the pay cut. Worth considering at length.

Change is always good. We weren't designed to be static.

And God no, 47 isnt too old. I know an 88 year old getting another degree.

If possible I'd suggest a 'working sabbatical' or 'stress swap'. I'd done the same kinda work for decades, hated it, woke up one day n though fork this. So I learnt to drive a bus...completely different to anything I'd ever done before. I did it for six months out n around the villages near me and though much harder than I'd expected, it was great.

I learnt a new skill, was still earning (terrible money) and the time it afforded me helped me recharge my batteries and change my focus. Best most bonkers thing I ever did!
