Has anyone had one?

My sight went weird at work this afternoon and a few colleagues said it sounded like an ocular migraine.

Yes I've had them a few times. It's like part of my vision goes. So if I was looking at a page of writing I could see some of the words but not all of them.

Yes, I suffer with them. Agony. I suggest ibuprofen lysine tablets, dark room and sleep.

I once had a migraine which started with me waking up one morning, completely blind in one eye.

To say I freaked was an understatement.

I realised something wasn’t right when I couldn’t see a word properly and then I could see what looked like lots of little v’s in blue and gold in my peripheral vision.

I’ve taken exactly those tablets and d*unk lots of water.

It came completely out of the blue which was the scary part.

Yes, once. Vision went black except for a small circle in the middle. Happened a number of years ago and never again since.

Bloody scary at the time as I had no idea what was going on, thought I was going blind!

I've suffered from frequent migraines for 15 years now. Only had an aura a few times but they're scary.

Migraines can be excruciating and last for days so please be careful. Even if the pain is gone you can still have brain fog for days after.

Sleep it off if you can. Migraine meditation music really helps me (YouTube it).

If you have a sudden pain like you've been hit in the head then you need to go get checked.

This can be a thunderclap migraine or something more serious.

Thanks. I’ve ordered an eye test voucher from my work and then I’ll get my eyes tested just to make sure there’s nothing wrong.

Sometimes when I get migraines I'll start with the middle of my vision going blurry and eventually it goes dark and grey and spreads outwards until I can't see anything. Or I'll get sparkles in my vision. Other times I can still see but can't process anything, so I can't read or use a phone or computer. Sometimes I lose my speech. It's shitty.

The best thing I've found is just to pump myself full of painkillers and go have a nap in a very dark room.

I had odd triangles in trippy colours. Off and on for a few weeks. Incidentally those were very stressful weeks and once things calmed down I didn't have them again

I thought it was just me, and all because of after effects of concussion in rugby.

I think I feel better knowing its actually a 'normal' thing to have and not injury related

Could be an aurora migraine too, I get those, partial vision and funny zigzag colours, then a horrific headache follows and can last days

I’ve had two they are vile! So scary.

The first I had tunnel vision and everything was so bright . My prorifial vision was basically bright lights and swirly lines .

Second time I was in Lapland it went very dark and my left eye I can only explain was if I was looking through a kaleidoscope.

Make sure you close your eyes and rest it will stop within an hour . Take a paracetamol if you feel it coming on x

I've had them. Fucking awful. Feels like a chequered flag is being waved in my left eye. The pain is bad, blurred vision and sometimes vomiting.

You need to go to a dark room, get some rest and ride it out. This is treatable with migraleve, so make sure you have a spare pack to hand.

I am prone to fluorescent tubes that are faulty. Feels like hell, but at least it's nowhere as bad a seizure TF.

I got to the point of having weird times to get them...I had them, typically on a Thursday at 2pm in summer two years apart.

I do wear sunglasses and prescriptions too.

There is a treatment, that you can do with a 50% success rate. I discovered it myself.

Acupressure: stroke both your eyebrows with two fingers each, from the nose to beyond the sides of the brow. Here you will find a dip in the skull as the bones have a blood vessel here, that rises to the surface.

Here comes the horrible bit...squeeze that vessel really hard, until that hurts and slows down the blood flow. Harder and longer is better, do it until you feel better. It's your head, you know best. When the eye pain lessens. This is purely anecdotal, so what have you got to loose.

Does anyone smell weird things before a migraine as well? I sometimes smell a burning or really sweet smell before getting one, as well as the ocular stuff.

I get ocular/aura headaches as a trigger to warn me the full blown migraine is eminent. They last about an hour and are actually really beautiful. Zigzags and light effect and loads of colours. Pity I’m usually in panic mode trying to prevent the migraine...
