Restaurants are using different ways to charge.

One we knew went to a restaurant with friends and they got some wine not anyone but the most expensive one which they didnt ask for, they got charged for it as the staff had already opened it and it was included in the total bill for the meal too, as a customer shouldnt you beable to say no and not pay for that wine, whats your view of it?

I dont understand. They asked for the wine but never got it? Or asked for the wine but changed their mind? Or the restaurant just opened it assuming they wanted that wine but gave them another?

They did want wine but the staff got the most expensive one for them. I dont think they assumed it I think it was a trick to make more money there.

In my experience in the restaurant business, people tend to ask for the house wine, assuming it is the cheapest. It isn't always, and doesn't have to be.

Yes they did get asked if they wanted wine like red or white. I think they assumed it wouldnt be the most expensive one there.

Yes I think so to it could be the house wine and yes many think it could be the cheapest of them.

They drank it they bought it.

They have wine lists for a reason. Sucks they were handed that bill, but they could have said no and not drank from that bottle and not have been charged. Shady on the restaurant to do that without asking.

Just a lesson learned for next time.

That is rigjt and not just that, on top of that they got automatically charged 10% too as you do in most restaurants.

That is right as they did drink it but assumed it wouldnt be the most expensive one and yes very shady and a lesson learned for them next time, it is also something I would check in the future to if I went into one to order wine.

They should have to pay, as they didnt stipulate which wine. However, the restaurant should have clarified exactly which wine was required, although they are not obliged to.

Went to pay for a meal once and the cheeky buggers had added someone else's drinks bill, onto ours. Always worth double checking.

In defence of the waitors, table tabs can be easily mixed up as most bills are added by adding a table number.. if they are under alot of pressure and understaffed, it's easily done.

Another lesson in asking for what you REALLY want and not just expecting things....

Similar to the wine lesson, just not with the cost hike.

Table in for breakfast.

I ask what they want... you know, as ya do.

They opt for the all in, I go through the items asking how many of each item each person would like. By the time I got to the chap I think he was slightly frustrated, he had been on the phone the whole time and ASSUMED he knew what he wanted.

I start asking "how many sausages?"

"I want 2 of everything" he replies.

"Are you sure?" I ask, "yes, I just told ya, 2 of everything for christ sake"

"Okie dokie"

So his breakfast comes out with 2 of everything, including portions of avocado, hummus, spinach and a whole host of other things he found repulsive.

"What's that shit?" He questioned.... So I replied... "2 of everything just like you demanded! the items you can choose from are on the menu you didn't bother looking at"

Don't be a dick and assume.
