How many of you do it.

It frustrates the life out of me, I have it stamped so big across my profile yet STILL only 30% actually do this.

You are just wasting my time and yours if you have not read as I just delete without opening the message.

If you cant read what I want, I cant read what you want.

when you look at profile an you think OK let's see. Then it as more than 100 words I'm Not interested. As usually the last part has that disclaimer. Also off putting when some one just says I'm 40 single n live some where.

It depends - if it's someone I am just shooting the breeze with, with no intent of anything more, then I may not read the profile - if it's with a view to meeting (or that 'shooting the breeze' develops) then I'll read it in full and check there is potential compatability

I enjoy reading profiles and find it the best way to get a feel for each person before actually talking. People but a little time and effort into writing them, it's only fair that I make the effort to read them

I read profiles and won't message anyone who doesn't fit what I'm looking for and vice versa.

I wouldn't know if someone had read mine or not, but for me that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I don’t think reading a profile before messaging should be necessary as 95% of women on here won’t reply regardless so why should we read profiles when majority of women won’t reply even when we do I think once you start talking then read it

I dont hate anyone for their opinion, espescially an honest one.

However, I am here to find someone I am attracted to, so no point wasting time if they are not for me.

Given the man to woman ratio on here if I did not specify what I am looking for I am sure the messages would 10fold, due to those who DO read, realise I am not for them/them for me, and move on x

There is a big difference in reading a profile and taking it in... just because someone doesnt put your magic unlocking word in a subject heading doesnt mean it hasnt been read... perhaps they read the words... look at the photos... get distracted

Your call entirely but if by reading it you either find you're not compatible (so don't waste your time sending a message) or find things to mention in your message then it's been a worthwhile exercise surely?

Unfortunate...I just don't understand men who get nasty when they get met with a no...everyone has certain things they're looking for so accept you're not always it...No surprise I get a fair "no's" but me getting nasty or barraging them over and over again isn't going turn that no into a yes is it

And here is what differentiates the ones we want to connect with and the ones we're all happy to ignore.

If you want to know me or someone like Ivy and it's clear you've not taken the time to read a profile like either of ours then why should we jump when you send us a one sentence message?

Put the effort in and you may get somewhere.

Luckily my filters are set to filter out most of the guilty ones as they're generally men, I've yet to meet a woman who doesn't read them.

I've not got one of those words you have to use as a header and I don't need one either, you can tell without it all too easily.

Not reading the profiles will help to perpetuate your 95% failure, or get it closer to 100%.

Messaging inappropriate, unmatched people, perhaps with a copy and paste type message, as you don't know them, is probably a big waste of yours and their time. Perhaps you would be better considering how your message success rate could be improved, rather than keeping it as it is?

Also, if it requires a specific title, pass. Or if there's only one sentence, pass. Or no photos, pass. Its actually quite easy to whittle down potentials

When I first joined fab I was guilty as charged and didnt read profiles and rarely got a reply to a message not matter how polite I was now I read any and all profiles if I intend to message and ok I still dont always get a reply but at least I know who I shouldn't message if I'm not right up there street what's the point t

Yeah I get that and dont mind a code word that needs to be put in a message but when your profile turns into a novel or it's just moaning about the creeps and weirdos on here, it's a bit much and off putting. If your fab profile is nothing but moaning, it doesnt give a very good outlook to your personality. Some men come on here to get away from moaning women in their lives....they dont need it on fab too!

Personally I read every profile that takes my eye. If I like someone I will message, usually with something in regards to something on their profile. Be it a witty comment about something or taking an interest.

They reply, they reply.

They don't, they don't.

I've been on here long enough to have messaged the women around my location I find attractive. I've found a couple of friends

Now I've found myself lurking the forums, more for stimulating than to try and pull.

It's nice.

Men, and I was the same treat this place like the women are objects. Sad truth.

I get people telling me mine is too long. I have even put a tldr; at the top but they don't even read that.

If my profile is too long to read then they don't have the attention span needed for a BDSM based scene so not someone I'd be interested in anyway.

The way I do it is I read the message, if there’s anything interesting about it I go and read the profile, then I decide whether to reply or not based on the combination of message and profile. If I click on a profile, I read the whole thing.

As for my profile, I would prefer people to read it first and then decide whether we potentially match each other’s wants before messaging, but I guess you can spam 50 people with a copy and paste one liner in the time it takes to read my profile, so why bother? I can usually tell whether they’ve bothered or not without a code word anyway.

The thing that irritates me is when they think it’s too long, then feel the need to message me to tell me it’s too long. Like mate, if you can’t put a few minutes and a little effort into reading my profile, it doesn’t make me want to jump into bed with you in case you won’t put any time or effort into that either!

I don't doubt that but to be honest I stopped at "white" and "taller than me"...so wasn't any need to continue right? That's proof that reading profiles do help figure out if you're likely to match or not.

I add another paragraph every time someone doesn't read it.

But if you delete without reading the message how can you know the sender hasn't read your profile

Me, I read the message received, not that I get many then, if something captures my eye, I'll go and read the profile. Perhaps it saves some false judgements and the occasional rant?

Read my profile....you will get your answer

I tried but it was so long my break was over before I finished lol

Every time I come across a profile that catches my eye I always read it carefully before sending any initial message that is not off the back of a forum thread.

If I don't fit their criteria I leave well enough alone. We can't please everyone after all.

We always read the profile of people we are interested in, compatibility is super important and reading the profile is the first step to finding that out.
