The moon looks *huge* and so close tonight from where I am. It’s absolutely spectacular. Breathtaking.

Ill have you know the moon tonights a 'super moon' its a natural phenomenon that's also named the 'Snow Moon' as it often coincides with heavy snowfall, it looks stunning here in rural derbyshire.

When it's higher in the sky your brain doesn't process the size in the same way, when in reality it is exactly the same size on the horizon as it is when it's higher in the sky.

Yes it is currently at perigee, but seeing it first thing this evening, low down it also appears bigger than it will later in the evening when it's higher

It was actually closer over the weekend , did you know every time we have a full moon (approx every 29 days) they are given a special name! Bit of trivia for you.
