Anyone here a regular donor, or curious as to the process?

I went today. The phlebotomist said "you don't look old enough to have given blood 42 times"

I haven't donated in years. I should do because I'm B- which is pretty rare

I give pretty much the next day after I'm allowed to again and have had a few similar comments over the years . It's a good thing to do, if you can and you're not scared of needles you should give it ago

Sadly I'm not eligible to donate since I had a blood transfusion when I was very young.

Aye, try to give when I can but always seem to miss them in the local hall .

Used to use it as an excuse to go home for the weekend, a great way to catch up with folk as you queued

I give regularly.

I think the rules on bi/gay donators have been relaxed so please enquire if you want to donate. Every donation is important so it is worth checking directly rather than ruling yourself out.

I really need to get mine checked to donate. I (brat) have the least common blood type AB- but as I've had multiple transfusions I could have what they label 'golden' blood. It can switch to AB null meaning they can use me to make the antiD vaccination for babies.

People if you're ABneg and had a transfusion you could save countless babies lives.

Chams or Socials

I donate as often as I can. My blood has been hit & miss but is good at the moment.

T is in remission for a blood cancer so he can’t donate.

It is frustrating trying to book appointments though as they seem to be cutting back on the amount of sessions

Me too, I've actually never thought about giving blood. Maybe I should with being rare blood group.

Every time I've had a blood test they always say about being a rare blood type but have never suggested I should donate...

I would be happy to as I got rare claret.

However they don’t make it easy or convenient. I registered but could never find a time outside of my work hours that was within 20 miles. I’m hoping that’s a good sign that loads of lovely people donate.

I used to give blood, once a year for 15 years

I can't now because of a heart condition

Gutted me really because I am one of 2% of the population with AB+ blood, so it was always in demand

AB Negative.

I used to donate regularly as they came to our (large) offices to do it.

Changed jobs since and it’s not easy being available when in my area.
