I’m gonna stay in Liverpool for 2 days and nights after the MLS.

I’m gonna play tourist for two days in one of my favourite cities.

I’ve already done the Beatles Tour, London Eye, Anfield and shopped ‘till I dropped around Liverpool One.

Hit me with some of your suggestions so I can get planning, please

Also, where’s the best cup of coffee to be found?

Best coffee: moose coffee. I've had a LOT of coffee in town but that's my favourite.

If you've not done the river cruise on the ferry that's worth doing (cringey but good fun), as is a trip up the Anglican cathedral tower.

If you're with a man then send him to the gents in the Philharmonic Dining Rooms- they're well worth seeing, honest!

Oh god, almost forgot... if you're in town Wake and Cate is great for coffee. It's up an alleyway at the side of marks, but don't let that put you off.

Under the Duvet

Anglican Cathedral is breathtaking, one of my fave buildings. You can do the tower tour too. You don't have to be religious to appreciate it.

Cains Brewery village fir eats and drinks.

Junkyard golf is fun, also down that end of town.

Pubs-Ye Old Cracke if you like chatty locals, or Peter Kavanaghs.

Coffee-Rococco or 92 degrees.

There's all the Beatley stuff if you're into that, I did the Magical Mystery coach tour a few years back with my Norwegian friend and it was pretty good.

The Museum of Liverpool Life is excellent, stuff on music, footy and everything in between. Dip in to the bits that interest you or do the whole thing.

The two cathedrals on either side of the same road are stunning. Very different but both equally amazing.

Ones grand and old gothic style as you'd expect. The other one is big and modern..ish and hexagonal!

I'd really recommend Potts café just off bold street. Also down the hatch if you want amazing burgers.

As mentioned, the two cathedrals are well worth a visit, as well as the museums you'll find near lime Street.

Bold street is my favourite bit, takes you from central station to the bombed out church, loads of restaurants and cafes and it has a really lovely vibe to it.

Best hungover breakfast in town: cafe Tabac at the top of bold street.

Oh, Chinatown is up that way and that's worth a look - there's a huge Chinese arch there.

I like the Liverpool Maritime Museum.

At night, Concert Square is usually the place to be.

As with all cities, some areas should be avoided, but that's common sense.

If you get a taxi, check the distance on Google maps first and ask for a price before getting in. Some taxi drivers will literally drive you in a circle and charge you £10 for it.

Lunya on Hanover Street or Lunya Lita, it’s little sister, in Albert Dock for food, wine and delicatessen [Catalan Tapas Bar run by a Scouse husband and wife team) Bloody marvellous and they have a middle sister on Deansgate/Barton Arcade in Manchester

You can also go up to the top of the Liver Building (one of the three Graces) for fabulous views over the River and City. Pluse experience on of the key landmarks

Don’t know the extent St George’s Hall is open to the public at that time but a fabulous building with amazing marble floors

Flanagan’s Bar on Matthew Street for an Irish pub with a Scouse twist.

The Alchemist for cocktails on Brunswick Street.

Both not far from the LGBTQ area

Google or trip advisor ,,, city explorer tours ,, I had a great time exploring all of Liverpool on this bus , was about an hour and half tour , but you can get off and on all day at different place around Liverpool , takes you all around Albert docks , Liverpool town , all the churches , town hall , posh hotels etc , I thoroughly enjoyed it xxx

If it's coffee or food -

I'd say anywhere on Lark Lane is good, though it's slightly to the outside of the city.

If it's central, cafe tabac, has a bit of character & decent food, if it's still there. Used to be on Bold Street.

On a separate note, and I don't know if it's your thing, but just across the water is The Townhouse swingers club. One of the best in the north west and a fully licensed bar even if you just wanted to go for a social night.

The Art School is incredible. It isn't cheap by any means and often need to book well in advance but the food is out of this world.

the maritime museum near the docks that has already been mentioned, definitely worth a look. There's a big section on the slave trade there, it's fascinating & sobering.

Also i agree with other people that have mentioned the anglican cathedral. The architecture is stunning.

I’ve been to TH on a previous trip. I had a great social there. Such a welcoming and lovely club. Mother Nature prevented anything beyond a social

I went to Liverpool with a friend a couple of years ago. Really wanted to go up the Radio City Tower, but it was closed for the day when we got there. It's certainly on my to-do list next time I go there, especially being in the trade!

For the best views of the city, I reccomend a stroll down the prom from New Brighton to Seacomb at night.It's beautiful in my opinion.

From Seacomb you can catch the ferry back into Liverpool and that's pretty good too.

As a bit of a newcomer to the area, I'm finding a lot of the suggestions in this thread very useful.Thanks.

Book a tour up the Liver Building and have a gin.

Train to Crosby and have a stroll down the front near the Lifeboat Station. See the Iron Men and the ships coming in and out.

Do proper pubs like The Baltic Fleet, The Lion, The Cracked and Roscoe Head. You'll soon get talking to the locals.

If you can pop into the panoramic for a drink or pre book for afternoon tea. (Booking system usually even for just drinks ). The views are amazing especially at dusk.

Lived in Liverpool for 4 years for uni, would absolutely second the Shiverpool tour! The 2 cathedrals are must-sees as well, more the Anglican and it's gardens for sheer grandeur though! For food I'd recommend Death Row Diner for amazing burgers and The Quarter which was always my cafe of choice and had rocky road slices which are unbeatable. If you're into board games there's a board game cafe near L1 called Sugar and Dice, huge collection and the staff are incredible! If the bombed out church has any events on those are normally pretty excellent, and the art gallery, library and slave museum are amazing for culture, enjoy yourself!

Staybridge Suites is a fab hotel in the docks opposite the arena, it's part of the IHG Holiday Inn group.

If you use the ihg website you can see all their hotels there.
