As a child, I started to developing a loathing for films! I still have that loathing now. You know what started it?

In our family, whenever it was raining outside, my parents would say "awww, nevermind, we'll just have to stay in and watch films!". For me, that wasn't great - I wanted to splash around in the rain, etc, but, yeah, we weren't allowed - off obvious reasons. Haha!

Anyway, what would happen is that my parents would "chill out", put the fire on, and we'd have nothing to do other than watch depressing films. All.... day.... long....

The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Oliver, Bedknobs, etc. All those films... I felt like I was trapped. How I hated those films. That's how my loathing of films developed.

What about you? What weird things like that do you remember from your childhood? Things which still affect you now...

The Town by The Cross

Bloody GREAT post.

It's not the films you loathe. It's the memory of enforcement.

I get huge anxiety from sitting with anyone who is watching anything im not interested in.

Even when I was married, if my husband was watching something I didn't like - read , did dishes, made something, phoned someone etc etc ANYTHING but endure two hours of disinterest.

You never had the luxury of being able to move.

I watch films alone. I like to immerse ...... can't put up with talkers and sweetie passers.

That's so interesting. I'm the same. It's like torture!

I can watch short documentaries sometimes though.

Mine is monopoly. My sister would force me to play it with her (can’t remember the reasons why) and I always hated it.

Under the Duvet

The sound of football on the tv caused me huge anxiety for years.

Again due to triggering memories from childhood.

I got to reframe it as an adult, but it took years.
