I’m doing a dinner today.

My little sisters just rang me, she’s on her way home from Bristol, ETA is 12:30 wants me to make her a chicken dinner.

I know people love it when I do dinners and I haven’t done one since Xmas day so just letting you know!

So it's frozen. If I did a roast I'm in the kitchen all morning sorting out the vegetables and stuffing making fresh gravy mmmmm

She wants pigs in blankets, honey roast parsnips, she wanted home made Yorkshire’s but I needed more notice for them cos I make the mixture the night, she’ll have to have frozen, she wants 12 stuffing balls to herself and mash. That’s all she eats! But for vegetables I will do peas (garden for me, mushy for my mother) carrots, swede cos my mother eats that gloop

No I just don’t have to stand in the kitchen for hours. Once the meat is in and you’ve peeled your veg and your potatoes it’s all just timing. I don’t stand in the kitchen watching my potatoes cook or my meat. Veg is done in the last 40 mins anyway, gravy done in the last 10.

The only thing frozen today is the Yorkshire’s cos I didn’t have enough kitchen. I usually have my mixture stand for a good 16 hours.

Fresh gravy would come when I take the meat out to rest, so at the end. I often go out and walk the dog while meat is roasting, roast is easy peasy!

As am a chef. I can be very lazy at home in the kitchen.

And I kinda cook a lot of pasta or eggs.

But today am having home made potato fritters. I made the batter last night for onion rings for tea and I will slice spud's later to use up the batter

I've also had it sprung on me to do a dinner, I've not cooked for more than 3 people in about 16 years and I'm doing a roast for 5 of us.

I fear my portioning may go wonky fucking donkey.

I'm also on my way to buy some more saucepans as I only have 1 in the house!

Oh, and the food. I'm off to get that too!

Well I am supposed to be doing our traditional Sunday lunch however as hubby threw my ancient veg peeler away a year ago I now have to wait for him to do the veg. As cricket is on & his fb too I suspect I'll be having me a little cheese n crackers. Its not that I'm lazy but I hate the new peeler, he did it to himself

Doing what we call Saturday night special

Mince and onions

Part boiled sliced spuds

Cheeses sauce

Layer a casserole dish with the spuds

Add halftime the sauce

Add the mince

Top with the rest of the sliced spuds

Add the rest of the cheese sauce

Bake for 2 1/2 hours the spuds go crispy

Yes mmm

Served with fresh veg

Nursing a food baby now but it was lush. Plus I cooked it in my mothers so she can sort the kitchen when she gets home from work!

Well...plans went somewhat awry. A few times.

But now I've managed to offload my two cumbersome team members, that banging roast will be indulged in today, merely with an extra 24 hours anticipation to whet the appetite...
