"Nice choice

Do you know what I heard the other day ... The Riddle - Nik Kershaw

Wasn’t that an actual riddle that people solved and write into nik? "

Actually no.

I was fortunate enough to meet him once (21 years ago) and asked him what the riddle was actually about.

There was no riddle.

When he was putting the album together, his producer saud that he liked it but couldn't find anything on it that he thought could be released as a single.

So Nik went off and wrote the riddle, coming up with some nonsense lyrics to get the melody, intending to change them later - but never did.

He actually said that he got quite embarrased when competitions were set up offering holidays etc to anyone who could solve it.

Oh indeed - the 80s weren't as great as the rose tinted glasses paint them - I can remember watching an old TOTP episode from 81 or 82 a few years back and there was some drivel about.

The 80s may have bought us some great stuff but let's not forget it also bought us:

No One Quote Like Grandma

Daytrip To Bangor

One Day At A Time (Sweet Jesus)

Agadoo

Atmosphere (and I'm talking Russ Abbott not Joy Division)

Driving In My Car

Every Loser Wins

Anyone Can Fall In Love

And many many more utterly bilgeworthy songs...a lot of them put out by Stock Aitken & Waterman
