I agree, it wasn’t very sportsmanlike, most grounds respect the kicker, it was bad enough the wind was blowing the ball at right angles without the booing although you could just hear The Chariots in the background if you listened hard enough

I see there has been an interview with Finn Russel today where he admits he dosnt get on with Townsend and dosnt agree with the teams tatics and coaching. More or less says he aint coming back while Townsend in charge

Have you ever been to a basketball game? When the away side take a penalty, the whole stadium appears encouraged to shout and jeer to put the shooter off, whereas, if a home team member takes a penalty, it’s silence......

I agree the booing is unsporting, and really not in the spirit of rugby, but feel the penalty taker will either not notice it, or use it to ‘stick one in their eye’

anyway... the weird thing about the finn russell interview is that remember gregor has basically been his coach for the last 7 years between glasgow and scotland... so for him to come out and say he has no relationship with him sounds really odd

so if russell doesn't play for scotland , which is what he is alluding to you also put gatland in an awkward position with regards to lions consideration....

a few things here...

a) South Africa would work "timezone wise"... only 2 hrs ahead of the uk/ireland and 1hr ahead of france/italy.. so would work for TV (whereas travelling to new zealand/australia/argentina is actually much more travel than a "7 nations would be)

if SA were to move...the logical step would be for japan to move into the championship (plus if they were really being ambitious a potential joint pacific island team of tonga/samoa/fiji.... or all 3 to create a southern hemisphere 7 nations (which also would mean australia/new zealand could scoop up all pacific island talent)

b) SA in the pro 14.... remember it the 2 worst SA provinces! (free state play in both... but 1st play super rugby, 2nds play top 14).... other thing may be use the super provinces for ERC only! and go back to using the Currie cup for domestic championship
