So I have a female friend (site member) who's ready to start dating. She's tried the vanilla route, and it got us thinking if there were such a thing as 'fab dating'?

With all the vanilla usual stuff, but understanding where you both come from and having the swinging as part of your lives, with no awkward conversations....

Is this foolishness or would the idea have legs?

I think there’s a lot of people that would quite happily meet someone on FAB, me include. As you say it takes away the awkwardness as you’re already more open minded on here. I do think you’d get a lot of guys (and women too) saying they’d like date but really they just want to get laid!

Of course, I know relationships aren’t built on sex but it’s a big part. If you match up that way I think it makes for a better relationship. This is why some people end up straying away, simply because there looking for something their not getting at home. So yes I think it would be a good idea

That's obviously understandable, but from personal experience you get people like that on a vanilla dating site anyway. At least this way you have the chance of finding someone who's at least on the same level?

You have to vet/be careful with the people you date regardless, but at least everyone would be on the similar starting point.... Wouldn't you?

Yes of course you do.

I have tried dating someone on here previously who said they were open to the lifestyle but in reality they wasn’t. I think until you step into this world as a couple you don’t know how you’ll feel about it, but I’d love to find someone who’s willing to test their boundaries and be open to it.

Been off and on fab for 7 years now and in that time only tried vanilla dating once. Had an amazing evening hit it off straight away. One thing led to another and we ended up in bed. I’m a very honest person and the after sex the talk turned to our history. I told him about fab and swinging and he promptly got out of bed got dressed and left. Never felt so used in my life.

I will not enter into a relationship with anyone hiding who I am so I’ll stick to fab and what will be will be.

I agree with you here. Many people just don’t get the openness that swinging offers. There are fixed ideas in society that we should all conform to the norm which is such a shame...

A few years ago I was previously on fab and met a girl, eventually we ended up dating for 7 months. We had a good time and the openness was already there so it was a more honest relationship.

Meeting up on fab could be viewed as a different/alternative type of date/dating site and it’s bound to have created a few relationships.

I am however open to a swinging relationship with the right person, living together and suchlike. In that case distance isn't an issue as I could move home etc.

I found if you're on here and dating sites most men presume you're up for swinging on the dating sites, or just a fuck.

I thought fab looked to set it up once before, but binned it, as all people have todo is put that they're happy to meet, but ideally looking to date a like-minded fabber and there are more fabbers on fab, than if they made a separate site.

I doubt many fabbers would tick a 'long-term only' tab and repel other short term meets.

It’s definitely possible. But I agree with the majority has to be local.

I met a brilliant fabber last year and had the best of both with dates, night caps, the cutesy messages and the utter filthy sessions - unfortunately distance and the change in my working hours have made it virtually impossible for us to see each other so we’ve parted on good terms.

Absolutely yes I would, but a number of problems namely that ol chestnut of being 'too young' and the fact my job infrequently throws me from kne end of the country to the other doesn't help either... Ah well, plus I'm enjoying being single right now but who knows in the future, I hope something like this has come along by then

For a normal monogamous relationship I don’t think guys on here would consider dating a woman from here. I don’t think they can get past the fact that a potential girlfriend had pictures of her boobs or fanny out in what is essential a sex site.

Although I would and have dated someone from here so for me where I met someone isn’t important.

I think the words “mutual exclusivity” come to mind for the relationship I’d want.

There are many happy couples who met on Fab. Some have moved on and left the site, some have split (as do many couple who met through normal routes) and some have gotten married.

Cheekychops used to do many a dating thread a while back.

But is it necessary if you're up front about the possibility in your profile? There's no doubt that on any specific thread posted specifically about people being serious about looking for relationships there'd be people saying 'pick me' just to get a shag, same as they do on many other threads.

The best route? Find a regular meet/FWB/FB and just see how things progress with no expectancy. Exactly how dating works in the 'real world'.

I have met two men on here I’ve dated one for 4.5 years for serious but didn’t work

Another for a few months but distance fucked it . I think it’s a defo possibility
