D*unk truth

Manchester (he/him)

There's often the school of thought that when a person is 'tipsy' the truth of a matter is more likely to be told. That a person's 'true character' can be revealed.

Do you agree with this or do you think that it's just the drink talking?

Thoughts folks...

Sometimes the lips are loosened, inhibitions lost, filters dropped and true thoughts are revealed

Sometimes however, the drink makes one speak even more shit than usual

It's picking which one is happening that's the real trick

Drinking impairs cognitive function. Basically you're too d*unk to think of a lie so youre more likely to tell the truth

Drink talking. Sometimes drinking will help people say things they've wanted to for ages of inadvertently reveal their true feelings but I've heard too many drink people talk utter nonsense to believe anything a d*unk person says

La la land

I don't think that I hide my true character, I am me regardless if I'm tipsy or not.

For example if I don't like someone I won't pretend to be their best friend, but I won't tell them what I think of them either. However, if I don't like the said person because of a specific behaviour, I'm more likely to call them out on it whilst tipsy. This is due to a loss of my own inhibitions. Have I expressed my thoughts I normally bottle up after a drink yes, and more often than not it's been a good thing.

Hiding from twats

I don't have many filters anyway and can't lie for shit because it's written all over my face (I'd be the worst poker player ever). But when I've drinking I'll say any old shite that comes into my head and I'm a bit more blunt and less tactful.

To a certain degree I see your point, however studies (yes there were clinical studies) have found that the effects of alcohol on higher brain function were found to inhibit reasoning and response. In many ways, being d*unk *is* an excuse for aberrant behaviour

It definitely lowers inhibitions and makes me more impulsive! I don't think I turn into a completely different person though. I guess it depends on how much of your "true self" you're masking in day to day life?

I get very very affectionate after a few drinks, definitely need to stay sober if I ever go to a club

Look up alcohol as a myopic, it is commonly looked at as a dust inhibitor but that's only one angle.

Definitely true. Good job I don't really drink because I have a nasty habit of telling people what I really think and that trait is bad enough when I am sober

I'll say the same stuff d*unk or sober. Depending on what it is though it may be forceful when I'm d*unk.

I'm more likely to cry when I'm d*unk

Up on them there hills

My thoughts are, people tend to be more open with their values after a drink, less socially constrained.

Long live the id.

I think alcohol heightens certain parts of our persona, we lose inhibitions and allow things to be shown we normally wouldn't (hence the amount of people dancing on tables etc).

I don't think it's true it's our true character showing, more an exaggerated version of ourselves.

I do this completely sober and I don't drink.
