visiting the beach

I've just made Stilton on toast, with some very old cheese.

The smell is very reminiscent of the post title. Though the taste was gorgeous.

Anything you like the taste of but struggle with the smell?

Funny you should say that I was eyeing up the remnants if the xmas stilton, that is currently stinking up the fridge, with suspiciom

I braised venison in blueberries once. The smell of the venison went it first went in the pan to brown turned my stomach and I was convinced I wouldn’t be able to eat it.

By the time it was done it smelled and tasted heavenly,

An off or corked bottle of wine will often have the aroma of wet dog about it.

On the other hand, 'cat's pee on a gooseberry bush' is an accurate description of how many Sauvignon Blanc wines smell. The wine contains the same fragrance chemicals as the plant or the cat's pee, hence the similarity.

Looking at when I started this thread, 49 minutes ago.

Has anyone ever eaten Durian fruit? I don't think I'm brave enough. Apparently it's delicious, but smells like rotting flesh.

I have eaten stinking bishop that's up there for vile smells.

Durians are heavenly, it's a heady and rich mix of sweet and cheesy flavours. Definitely not like rotting flesh.

The fruit does not have a long shelf life and the ones you can buy here are nothing compared to the fresh stuff in Asia.
