It's between him and Harry though according to the media. Harry's gone off the boil a bit recently so Roy's just got his nose in front

According to tonights BBC he's already spoken to the FA and the FA haven't approached anyone else..Its ok with me tho,I can go straight to disappointment now without having to worry about the pointless hoping re the euros

Just for the crack I’d like to see Alan Pardew approached about the vacant position and watch the response of those Magpie fans who vilified him at the time of his appointment at Newcastle…….

I confess I was never a fan of his…. But I take my hat off to the guy now. He certainly seems to be doing a great job with the toon...

Bloody typical, Baggies finish highest up league for thirty odd years and FA nick him. Back to normal at Hawthorns then

All those fans who wanted a English manager who shares their pain every time England lose, looks like the FA is giving you what you wanted.

Roy Hodgson as Manager, John Terry somewhere in there too.

And that's the cream of England.

Rightie ho then, I'll just wait for my son to get into football and look forward to World Cup 2030.

ahem... when someone here suggested roy hodgson right at the being... okay.. lets not beat around the bush.. it was me!!! I got ridiculed....

i think from a tactical and european and national team experience he was the choice for me from the beginning.....

actually the interesting thing for me, is that his west brom contact runs out at the end of the season... so you could almost just appoint him for the euros.. and then if it doesn't work... go get someone else.....

when you want to spout all glory about harry redknapp.. lets not forget that he also got west ham relegated, put southampton is a position where they had to go thru hell to get back to the premier league, and helped basically put portsmouth out of business.....

he is not quite the messiah he is painted to be...

Rumour has it the FA did indeed interview Harry Redknapp, when they asked him about his plans for the Euros he replied...

"I want them in unmarked 20's and 50's, given in a plain briefcase to my son Jamie along with a return ticket to Monaco"

Never rated Arry, what has he won as a manager? How many teams has he ruined? Hodgson has a record better than any other English manager around

The FA rang Harry Redknapp to explain that they were passing him over

in favour of Hodgson...."Sorry Harry, you are a great manager but we

went for the guy with the most experience....hope you understand"

"Spare me the violins said Harry.....I prefer the fiddles"

nope.. i am looking at a man who has been inter milan manager twice and took them to a uefa cup, took fulham to the europa league final, taken west brom to their highest league position in 30 yrs, took switzerland to the euros and to the world cup... did a bloody good job with finland

I bet if you lines up roy's resume with 'Arrys i bet it would be as good.....

'arry is the flash compared to roys substance.....

Magic ..

Not that I 'do' footie.

The proper England Team with any hope of winning anything sorted their manager out months ago when Johnson left.

Sadly (and alledgedly), closer to the truth than most realise. Particularly the last sentence of the quoted post.

Just seen this Hodgson bloke on the news....he looks like Harry Redknapp's dad!

Still it will save on the FA car that comes with the managers job, his bus pass will suffice.....

Hmm I still think the job's too big for Roy but with Euro12 looming and his nearest rival looking shaky at Spurs, he may be the breathe of fresh air England have been looking for all these years: a no-nonsense English manager well versed in world football.

Good luck Roy. If you take the job, you'll need it!

roy hodgson is good manager, with only the liverpool blip staining his record.

english fans, and press, should give him a chance, though this is highly unlikely.

english teams always do best, when expectations are low.

having read this thread, the european championships are in the bag.

hodgeson will be fine.

he gets players playing within themselves in a very controlled and organised way.

Redknapp is a tub thumper, along the same lines as keegan. thing i have noticed about him, and his teams, however, is there seems to be no plan B. his teams need to be playing well to win, there is no grinding out results like the best teams can, so thats why harry isnt the man for the job. give it hodgeson.

all we are saying, is give roy a chance

Kidderminster+ surrounding areas.

roy has managed in europe and has taken 2 teams to european cup final, has managed and taken a couple of national teams to world cup finals, can speak five languages so must be able to read and write!.

i dont think he should take the job!,he is there to be shot at by all the snipers that wanted arry redcrap for the job, stay at west brom roy and see that job through.
