"Germaine Greer. I know some won't agree but I can't not mention her. I owe her and those like her so much. She has her glaring faults, but yes, absolutely. Graduate of Sydney university!" She'd better not be using our pics for research.

"Waltzing Matilda. Periodically there are calls to make it the national anthem, and for some reason it's been exported. A charming song about a traveller making tea by a body of water? Well... until you hear and translate the other verses " Depends which version. I love the lyrics of the Tom Waite/Rod Stewart version. Tom Trauberts Blues, especially the last verse. It tells a story of a guy down on his luck. "It's a battered old suitcase, in a hotel someplace, and a wound that will never heal. No primadonnas, the perfume is on, and an old shirt that's stained with blood and whisky. So goodnight to the street sleepers, the night watchmen and street sweepers. And it's goodnight Matilda too".

Both versions tell a similar story. I think the last line of the Tom Waite version (and it's goodnight Matilda too) pretty much tells you everything.
