I think probably because the crows were all blatant Afro Caribbean cliché caricatures and the word Kia Ora is a Maori greeting.

Tastes have changed I guess

The Town by The Cross

Please. Dear God. 1987 was light years away in terms of social attitudes.

Why bring it up ?

The black and white minstrel show was not considered racist at the time. That’s because this country was a deeply racist place.

Thankfully we’ve got better, but we’re not even close to eradicating racism from our society.

Anyone using racial stereotyping for comedy effect or for the purpose of ridicule is acting in a racist manner.

Sad that this even has to be pointed out in 2020

I think the op is looking for "like minded" people to get the "pc gone mad" brigade going.

Comparing 1987 attitudes to 2020 ...bless him.

You have to try harder op.

Does this fall into the category of “if you have to ask the question you won’t understand the answer “?

It's not my job to educate you, or make you a better person. If you really care about this question, try Google.

You will never eradicate any form of prejudice or bigotry. The best you can hope for is to prevent it being openly expressed.
