"Does anyone else play it? I play retail and classic, I just took a break to focus on university work but now I have more free time I'm going to be back online more often. I play horde for the most part (I re-rolled alliance in classic just for a change) and I main as a priest healer. I'm hoping that I'm not the only one here who plays, and hopefully this won't go down like a lead balloon :')" OMG...please don't let me get dragged in again! Picked up WOW during the Burning Crusade and played it non stop until the end of Warlords of Draenor. Difficult to stop but I became much more focused on the career and then....fab came along Horde all the way! Main was a female BE hunter I called Gladstone. Created her to humour my ex and then adopted her as main. Such good memories

"I played vanilla, burning, wrath, cataclysm....up to pandoria. It was my winter month hobby. I've been to a few blizzcons and lan tournaments. Made quite a bit of money from that game. There are still videos of a few of our antics, tournaments, pvp and arena clutches and game crap I have. I've been to two weddings of people who I met on there, as well as know more who got divorced or lost everything because of that game. I was sponsored by steel series at one point who made me a customized mouse I still use to make macros on excel spreadsheets now lol. And I am not even going to tell you how much my computer cost to build. I still wont ever go back to playing it, but I do enjoy talking about it and I still talk to some of those people I ran with late into Tuesday nights after patch and raids looting fictional bodies for tier items and talking about dimishing returns while running around alterac valley. " Wow...literally! U.S. or European servers? I have the Special Editions of BC through Pandoria. Lovely artbooks I won't play it again, but I do like to keep up with the lore and cinematics

" Were you? Rogue? There was a hunter in our server (pre Cata) that somehow managed to get inside Orgrimmar and pick off people all the time " Lol. That was easy but no I was neither. I was a shaman, or a druid and on alliance side I was a paladin which I changed over to blood elf in expansion. One of my best friends on there our video is still on youtube when we pulled kiljaeden into iron forge and shut down all the servers. (Back when KJ would spawn randomly). After the 3rd time we got banned for a week and they stopped random spawning of world bosses except that weird dude near the portal.

"Me me me! Well I recently dipped my toes back into it because I need something to take my mind off things. I was a proper hardcore raider - GM of a veeeery good hardcore raiding guild. My main was a destro lock (unsurprising given my love of succubi) and I had a pally and a couple other characters. Oh and Horde. Obviously. Alliance were/are scum. HORDE FTW!" FOR THE HORDE!!

"I used to play lots, since all the way back in vanilla up until mid Legion. Played both Horde and Alliance, though mained alliance for raiding, feral druid since the start too! Then I kind of went quite casual now and again with friends I have made through the years within it. Some fairly close friends around the world. Quite honestly debating not returning at all due to the seriously scummy business tactics being made by Activision-Blizzard, and a fair amount of piss poor quality products, content, and service. Take a look at the recent Warcraft 3: Reforged release, buggy and unpolished update to an old game filled with false advertisement, has the worst meta critic rating of any high profile game, and to top it off they are not issuing refunds and are banning accounts of anyone who gives advice on how to go about attempting to claim a refund. Hell, last year they announced they have had the most profitable year ever, and then proceeded to fire 800 staff, only then to rehire a few new people to fill the roles of the people they fired, only with less pay and more responsibilities. Sorry, got a bit fired up there due to seeing the way a once highly respectable company that has given me a lot of great memories has walked the path of greed." They used to be one of the greatest customer service places to call as well. They gotta make up for lack of profit for years and years. The politics of gaming plus the fact it was like heroin abuse for alot of people - the addiction was that strong - is what keeps me away. I cannot even sit through a half hour of playing on my xbox or ps4 anymore, or sit at my computer for long without feeling contained and sick to my stomach when I think of how many hours...days.... weeks....months...I spent. Not to mention the money even though I made way more than I ever spent. I see that addiction in 8 year olds and gaming and it just wrecks me inside as I understand how personal those little victories become and how it deceives your confidence and that false perception of reward and gain is magnified because of it. I'll never go back, so many I know wont go back, so I get your feelings of not wanting to give in and play. Dont. It's just not the same game anyways.

I stopped myself one day when I realised just how much time was being taken up that could have been put to something more productive. I began focusing more on studying and developing my career and am very glad I did. The fact I discovered fab in the meantime also played a small part It's certainly not the same game anymore and definitely not the same Blizzard of old. Corporate greed, as always, destroys what it touches. I'm happy to just watch the latest cut scenes and cinematics and appreciate the artistry that goes into them

Bobby Kotick is up there with Hitler in the bad people books for me lol. Sounds bad as Blizzard was such a beloved developer but I really wish they just stopped making games now. Hopefully after the year they have people are going to start seeing this isnt the same Blizzard from the early 2000's and start steering clear. But people have short memories.

In fact that is one of the things they have going for them right now, their cinematics are second to none. Same goes for their art team, they get dragged down by the rest of what goes on.

"I loved the fact that everything was seamless. When I pushed a button, it was instant as to what happened. Their was no lag, and if their was we spent time figuring out those milliseconds and how to improve it. (Super intense people I arenaed with. It was all about timing.)(being competitive warranted those conversations). Wrath was the most impressive expansion to me by far. It was mindblowing how every detail was developed, drawn. It certainly blew many away as to how graphics could be in a game. Ulduar was such a gorgeous raid as a result, and although I still have memories of C-thin whispering in my ear as I played, Algalon was spectacular. I loved my mounts. Funny story, I was doing quests in that one part in wrath and got hit by a fucking drake that took forever to kill but managed it after I realized it was an elite and I needed a bloodlust. People were watching on the server and it turns out - I got the time lost drake first time it spawned. " That's what I call luck! People camp out for months and years and never got that mount...even with the mod that alerts you when it spawns randomly. Wrath was a brilliant expansion, yes, but the 5 player dungeons were too easy. The looking for group feature to complete them was handy, but it's introduction signaled the beginning of the end for a real community feel on the servers. This became worse when it went cross server. Cata was for me the most awesome expansion...at least initially. The completely revamped world was awesome, the dungeons were brilliant...and hard! Music was first rate and the initial raids were great. Shame it began losing steam and Blizzard just didn't invest more serious time following Firelands.

I agree for sure that the community suffered once they tried solving problems that didnt need fixing; as well as nerfing the need to farm and work for your character to even be able to get into places instead of handing it to people. It was kind of a slap in the face to the community of players who built the game like paragon, deus vox, vodka, ensidia etc. On arthas server in vanilla we used to have tournaments outside of the cities and beat each other up of which later became the arenas. On laughing skull server they were the only server in vanilla where they would have pvp based raids and the players with the most kills that week they paid to change his name to grandmaster which led to titles in the game later on. So many things happened in the game because of those players and that community. But the need for more players and more money I can respect, for sure, they are a company after all - the nerfing and changes made to make it so easy to raid was pitiful. The only saving grace for me was arenas but by the end of pandoria they had such an outcry from people who couldnt sit on their ass and get over the 2400 bracket that they put a 2 second delay on cooldowns so people couldnt get steamrolled. Thats when I quit the game as well as many top arena teams and players. I worked my ass off for years and it was all gone so some 16 year old kid in non pvp gear didnt even have to think about faking out a passive skill cooldown just so he could buy tier 4 shoulders that looked better on his character. (I'm still pissed about that. I preferred pvp to the monotony of raiding.) Cataclysm was very rehashed for me. I had already beaten half of the bosses in vanilla so I was a little ticked; however I did like the mechanics of the last raid instance with deathwing. The boat was fun as hell.
