How quickly -or slowly - do pages load on your mobile? Despite faster processors and Internet speeds, web pages seem to be poorly designed and built, especially for mobile devices. I'm not an IT pro, I say this as a user. Some I use are about 3 seconds but many I'm left wondering what the heck is going on behind the scenes.

Obviously it depends on several things, your device spec, Internet speed, Internet or site congestion etc. Curious what your experiences are?

Depends on the site you're using - how much data it needs to load, how much data it needs to get through to be able to fulfil your request but most importantly how quickly it can talk to its servers to be able to get that data. It's not a one size fits all.

Depends. Not all sites are optimised for mobiles.

Those that are work great. Those that aren't are often as frustrating as a 1990's web page.

The pages load fast but its the amount of ads on some sites that get in my way and can be sluggish. I have ad blokers but some sites like read comics online override them

Considering the Internet isn't particularly new, you'd assume that businesses would have been able to grasp how to do things by now.

There are lots of reasons web pages load slowly, very few of them are anything you can do a lot about.

The main ones are:

Distance between you and the web server

Web server hardware (you might be using a brand new computer, but if the web server is 20 years old it’s going to be slow)

Poor web optimisation (e.g. huge image files)

High traffic volume
