So you met that forumite, for a coffee or at a social or maybe for something more?

Who have you met that you were really pleasantly surprised by them and their ‘real self’

I’m gonna start with ‘PoF’ - makes me cry tears of laughter, like I knew he was funny but he’s just so lovely to be around.

Also ‘Incandescent’ what an absolute babe! She makes my ears ache from smiling

Most I'd list are either long gone or rarely seen on the forums.

Lickety, Mr Who, Misscheekychops, TinaTitz, Topsy, Invictus...the list could go on.

All had real personality and brought a lot to a face to face social and the forums. Whether you agreed or disagreed on any given subject you were guaranteed a lot of laughs and entertainment.

I haven't met anyone who's been a pleasant surprise in person, the good ones already came off well on the forums. I've met some whose attitude and personality were a profound disappointment in person, though.

There’s been a few I’ve met and not been surprised by, as they are in real life just like they are here. Some have been shyer than I’d thought they’d be.

The one that I remember is Incandescent, we had bashed heads many a time on here. We met at the pre social and introduced ourselves using our real names and then just got on talking and having a laugh. It wasn’t until later when someone said ‘do you two realise who you are actually talking to?’ So don’t make assumptions based on interactions here.

The one I will never tire of meeting and has me in stitches most days is Cookie aka Paddington. Love this girl to the bones, just a beautiful person inside and out, always a laugh and suits her nickname

My first pre-MLS was last September. I was nervous, excited and everything in between. The first person I met was Raven. I knew who she was from the moment I saw her. We hugged & laughed and she made me feel welcome. She's kind, funny and great fun.

There are so many great people here on the forums. SpursChick, Horny Irish, Nick, Just Belle, Citizensin, Goodnightgirl, Inaswingdress, Incandescent (I can't wait to see you again), and so many more. I miss you all but I'll see you soon.

Hatter and Diamond Joe were a lot of fun to be with. I shared an Air B & B with them both and they had me in stitches etc.

Manchester Lounge Social - held every couple of months or so - usually well attended

Ahhhh ok, I'll keep my eye open for when this is as I'd like to come and meet lots of forumites

from Home Counties to Middle Earth

I was delighted to meet so many lovely people at MLS last year. It was my best group social by far.

So many names and faces, it was impossible to get around the room when having such a great time.

I'm really looking forward to seeing you happy bunch again in May x

I don't want to name names, but one that really sticks out... it was an entirely unexpected meeting with someone I wasn't sure I'd gel with (for reasons that are down to me and me alone). This person met me where I was and made me instantly comfortable, even though I'm sure it's not their usual MO.
