On the back of the TV slogans thread.... Let's hear from those of you who remember Cuddly Ken on the TV and radio. Did you have a favourite character. I think I'll have to go for Sid Snot as my and my partner still do impressions of him

Cupid Stunt or Brother Lee Love.

Bedford

There was a programme about him on the wireless a while ago, saying how hard he worked doing those jingles and voices by cutting and splicing the tape himself. I also didn’t realise he was so close to The Beatles; I think they shared an anarchic streak.

Favourite character of mine is Reg, the DIY bloke

Shockingly my parents allowed me to watch his show when I was a kid 7/8 maybe?

I thought he was hilarious and loved him, being an innocent kid most of his innuendo went right over my head

Brother Lee Love is an absolute favourite.

I remember reading The Custard Stops at Hatfield when I was 9 or 10 and it was just beautiful, warm and witty and joyous.

Captain Cheeseburger

‘Round’em up, Put’em in a field and bomb the bastards.

Can any one imagine that being allowed any where near prime time television these days.

He had a beard, and I can see how you liken him to N**l E******s, but please don’t talk about them in the same sentence.

Norwich

A little-known fact about the Cupid Stunt character. She was originally going to be called Mary Hinge. But some BBC apparatchik said that the name was too rude and suggestive. So Cupid Stunt was put forward as an alternative.

There is another version where, on moving from ITV to BBC, the Beeb asked him to rename Cupid, so Mary was suggested as the alternative.

Not sure which is true but I think the former!
