Anyone else suffer with this?

I have been getting it all over my body and cant seem to shift it!

Been to the docs and was prescribed 2 lots of antibiotics which cleared it but it keeps coming back!

Starting to get me down now and has knocked my confidence

Hoping someone on here has had the same thing and managed to cure it?

I'd be sooo greatfull thanks

Iv tried pretty much everything and nothing works

Will go back to docs but not hopefull

Was hoping someone has suffered with the same thing and found a cure.

Have you considered a more herbal approach ? I'm not suggesting you try anything without taking medical advice . However tumeric is a good start and you can get capsules in Holland and Barrett. I have a friend who had great results with it. Do the follicles get infected ? I can imagine it must be knocking your confidence.

Havent tried the turmeric. Will give it a go!

Currently using the cider vinegar treatment but doesn't seem to be helping much.

So glad you posted this. Was about to ask if anyone knows what the fuck is wrong with me. This. This is whats wrong with me. My Dr really is an idiot. Been dealing with this or something similar for about 4 or 5 years. My arse cheeks are covered now in scars and have new infections popping up everyday and yeah, does affect confidence. Been treating them with aloe vera which is effective but now I know what to tell the Dr. I have to diagnose myself these days coz they're fucking useless.

Not the same but I have cystic acne, best things I've found was using glycolic acid and I found using a vitamin c serum good to prevent the scaring. Also found exfoliation is the main thing for me

I think this is what I had on my arms/shoulders from googling the pictures (didn't pay much attention to what the Dr called it at the time) It got infected a couple of times. Stress definitely affected mine as well as heat and too much sugar in my diet. I use Dermol (get it from boots, green bottle) you can wash just with that but I use hypoallergenic sanex showergel to wash with then use the dermal. I also moisturise twice a day with Aveeno. Seems to keep it at bay.

Makes sense. I've had to pluck my pubes a few times which isnt pleasant just so theres nothing around the infected area that can get worse. The body can be disgusting at times

You may find that a 4 week course of Ameliorate cream helps, it’s an exfoliant.

Definitely head back to the doctor though too

I get it on the back of my neck and in my chin, like you I pretty much tried everything and was actually on antibiotics for well over 2 months my doctor prescribed fucibet cream and I get hib scrub soap on prescription which I have to shower with and wash my hair with too. To be honest it cleared up on my chin until late last week when it decided to appear again but has never gone away from my neck. I have little self confidence anyway but this condition destroys any I do have and not to mention how damned sore it is too. I feel your pain and embarrassment but sadly i don’t have a definitive answer for you. My next step is referral to a dermatologist my GP has said, if I get any help or answers I will gladly pass them on to you. Xx

From your picture and description I would suggest the cause is possibly your shaving.

Follicitus can be caused by around 15 to 20 different sources and the treatment is dependent on the cause.

In many cases if you remove the cause you remove the problem but you may also need treatment to heal any infection.

Have you tried CBD oil? I've been tempted but its 30 quid a bottle. Supposed to be really good for skin problems like this.

Really? Its everywhere. Google it but keep in mind not every brand is great when it comes to purities. Dragonfly makes the best one from what I've heard.

Are you getting in areas where you’re removing hair? I’ve had issues before. Tea tree oil and leaving the hair alone helps. Exfoliating helps too, but you’re better with a chemical exfoliater that a scrub or mitt type thing because they can aggravate the skin with the friction.

No its mainly on my buttocks and hips. Hair doesnt tend to grow there so have never needed to shave there

Exfoliate, some kind of astringent and then moisturise daily as long as it’s not infected. There’s a product you can buy called Tend Skin, not specifically for folliculitis but I find it good for keeping bumps and ingrown hairs away, so maybe worth a go.

Try changing your make of underpants buttocks and hips are hairy parts of the body, if you have no hair there it has been rubbed off by friction. In a similar way hair at the top of the legs is often rubbed off by consent carrying heavy change in pockets.

Thanks, although I hear it can either be a fungal infection or bacterial. Worth a go tho
