Sounds like you need a career change or, a change of job.

Work doesn't have to be grim

I plan on retiring no later than 55 I’ve worked hard and I admit I’ve been lucky with some investments.

Being childless has helped an awful lot as I have no dependants.

It's good that you already have the intention OP, so that you can make proper preparations.

Be careful though as our mind will deteriorate rather fast if we stop being active.

Retire from your job but keep active in other things.

Good luck.

You're 31 years old OP - pack your bags immediately and go travelling.

Theres never enough money and unfortunately for most of us work feels more of a drag the older you get- even if you don't mind your job.

Go and make some memories x

I probably won’t retire per se. Maybe part time consultancy or training position to keep me ticking over.

. I hope you don’t but sadly what you are saying is very likely to happen to a lot of people after all pension has been raised to 67 and I believe those born between 1970 to 1979 will have to wait to 68.

Near Wells

One of my best friends that I went to school with retired in 2018 at 54. No chance for me until I'm at least 74.

He ran his own business and saved and invested money. I run my own business but spend money.
