What prompts you to start a thread

All are welcome and newbies and lurkers I do want to hear what you have to say, come and join in

I haven't posted a thread on here yet, but usually if a do start something on a forum, it usually a controversial topic, to get people fired up, just to get idea where people generally stand on aforementioned topics lol

All of the above. Sometimes I feel like I have something intersting/funny to say, other times I'm looking advice. I don't start too many but prefer to jump on the back of other peoples.

over there by that tree

I’m on a break from starting threads - my last few have had 2 or 3 comments then died.....

I start them when I feel attention whoreish or have a question

I start them because I have a question that is exercising my mind and I need it exorcising.

Have only recently started replying in threads. Why? Because I'm far too nosey after searching what I'm looking for then start reading through everything else

Me too. That profile doesn't suggest someone boring at all. I think you should pipe up a lot more

I do understand the whole fear of flop reason, I'm hoping this thread gives someone the confidence to go I've got something to say and I don't care if it flops I'm going to do it anyway

Either for shits and giggles or to try and strike up a debate.

Some work, some fall flat on their arse without a single reply.

Doesn't bother me either way as it's just words typed on a page and no big deal. I never understand why people get worked up when a new thread or an post on an existing one doesn't get a reaction.

Same here

I started one seeking advice for a first meet, at a similar time a lady started the same type of thread. Who do you think got 3 responses and who got dozens?

It's just how it is I suppose

It's very interesting to get people's opinions. Amazed by how threads go.

I start mainly user above 'say something nice' threads, mainly when I'm feeling a bit meh. I've seen the support that fabbers can give and it cheers me up. The odd other threads I've started have died a death after a few comments but I got the advice I needed x

There and to the left a bit

I don't start them often (I'm more of a contributor to threads than a starter of them) but when I do it'll either be because a thought has occurred to me that I'm interested in other peoples opinions on, or it'll usually be a music related thread just to while some time away, oh or a continuation of a previous thread that is closing but still appears to have some value

Manchester (he/him)

Usually if I've had something rolling around in my head that I think would be an interesting discussion. Sometimes because I like making people think or reflect on themselves.

If I post a serious one then often I'll try and balance it with a playful one.

I've found that certain times of day/certain days are better for responses and reflection than others.

I suppose the traffic flow of people will depend on what types of answers you receive, work and timescales all play a part in the frequency of replies, don't be afraid to make a comment on your thread if you have not yet received an answer which satisfies your question

North East Scotland, mostly

Mostly if there's something on my mind, sometimes for fun or if I'm bored. Some do well, others not so well, after having an initial fear of failure I've realised it's rarely personal if a thread does well or not Try it people, it's fun!
