Have the forums become less fighty?

I was discussing this with a forum regular last night. I dip in and out more than previously, but it does seem to me that there is more considered reflection and appreciation of opposing viewpoints at the moment than there was last year. Anyone agree? What are your thoughts about cycles on the forums?

"Please no bike puns."

It does seem to go through phases, there are one or two people who are constantly positive or negative, but the overall vibe does go up and down in cycles I think.

There are definitely cycles in the forums.

It was all rather samey and uninspired for a while, then it picks up.

I think on the whole people are friendly.

My posting style defiantly depends on my periods.

I wouldn't notice. I don't spend that long on the forum. It doesn't really affect me either. I'm not that conscious about how others use the forum. It's not important to me.

I think in general it's a fairly well balanced place and for the most part people are respectful.

You're always going to get some posts which trigger certain reactions and therfore people can be a bit more fighty.

Think I've well past 10 years on here now and it's the way it's always been peeks and troughs. A few months ago it was boring as fuck. New blood turned up and off it gos again. It really does depend on the personalities posting.

Exactly and our experiences means we all react differently but I don't think that's a bad thing, if it's done respectfully.

I think it's so much twmwr than it used to be. People don't want to be on the naughty step so are maybe keeping their mouths shut where previously they may of spoken their minds. Sometimes it's not worth the agro, but because of that, it can make the forums a little tedious at times.

Speaking your mind doesn't generally get you a spell on the naughty step.

It's how you do it that counts.

Disagreement is essential in here otherwise it's just an arse kissing, blowing smoke up others arses contest.

I haven't noticed it being any better, worse or different since before the sabbatical. Some funny fuckers have departed but there's still enough around to make it entertaining.

I'm under no illusion that I will, nor am I hoping to 'get a shag'

I'm here because the forumites seem like good enough people, aside from the occasional 1 or 2. I enjoy the threads that I feel I can get involved in, I have no expectations of any kind from any one, because no one owes me anything.

I think it depends on the fab forum users at any given time. Most tick along together fine with mutual respect, some just want to shake up a bit of drama with needy posts (each to their own) and some don’t like their noses pushed out ( those are pretty obvious)

It’s been more friendly and interesting since the Christmas furore and there are less regular posters on hiatus!
