Woking-ish

Morning,

What build an ark? Why? We're in the middle of a drought, aren't we? A very wet drought, but I'm not allowed on pain of death to water my garden with a hose!

You can't build an ark anymore...You'd need Building Regulations Approval and the Fire Brigade will inform you about the need for a sprinkler system. Your neighbours will claim that you should have obtained planning permission for building the Ark in your garden because it is development of the site, even though in your view it is a temporary structure. you'd have to then go to appeal to the Secretary of State for a decision.

Then the Department of Transport would demanda bond be posted for the future costs of moving power lines and other overhead obstructions to clear the passage for the Ark 's move to the sea. Then you tell them them that the sea would be coming to us, but they would hear nothing of it.

Getting the wood is another problem. All the decent trees have Tree Preservation Orders on them and you live in a Site of Special Scientific Interest set up in order to protect the spotted owl.You try to convince the environmentalists that you need the wood to save the owls - but no go!

The RSPCA insist that you are confining wild animals against their will. They argued the accommodation was too restrictive, and it was cruel and inhumane to put so many animals in a confined space.

Then the County Council, the Environment Agency and the Rivers Authority will rule that you can't build the Ark until they'd conducted an environmental impact study on your proposed flood.

As long as there isn't an Italian captain steering the ark everyone should be ok

I have to say that this drought is the only one I've seen where a side effect is Trench Foot!

As a friend of ours said 'There's a lot of Africa that would love this drought!'
