I'm wanting to make a 40th birthday hamper for a man. I want to have 40 different things in it. He's peanut mad so I'm getting things like this peanut bourbon and cara_elised nuts and posh peanut butter etc. So I have that side covered but wanting quirky gift ideas for the rest of it.

Do your best

He drinks Guinness /red wine or whiskey hence I found the peanut butter and jelly bourbon for him to drink but I don't want it all peanut themed I just want lots of things for him.

I love hampers too, did my brother a epic coffee one a few years ago including a home made coffee cake and home made biscotti

I'm hoping if the plans go correctly I'll be giving it to him and I'll be having a chef delivering tapas to us. If it doesn't go to plan it will be sent to him to open alone.

"Do you want jokey items too ??"

Possibly I'm quite open to ideas.

I want to make him smile when he sees it

Groupon might have something to do with that

Or find a really well reviewed grinding stone for sharpening an ax if he owns one.

I would love to be given hand written (not typed) IOUs as it shows alot of thought has gone into them.

Not just sex one's but one's with feelings (like one for a hug on a bad day for instance)

I got given some fantastic thermos bottles, use them everyday.

Fantastic gift for me.

But I am grateful for any gift and all are wonderful, because someone thought of me and something for me.

So be it an IOU or socks, they are all fantastic

Ooo that sounds amazing!

Homemade cakes are definitely a winner. Why not do luxury upgrades of every day items? Philip Kingsley does a brilliant hair care range (and you can buy the smaller bottles because it is a bit pricey but so so worth it). In a similar vein, Korres or Molton Brown or Jo Malone do amazing shower gel and soap for men (some are specifically marketed for men, others are unisex).

JoeSeph have a great range of popcorn that's in less traditional flavours but they are delicious. You could combine that with something film related/cinema tickets if there's a particular film he likes.
