That’s such an open question. In what way? Mine has sadly passed away.

Between Scylla and Charybdis

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy.

Was your mother a french teenaged prostitute with webbed feet called Chloe?

Mine was a gentle giant who would do anything for anyone. I didn't realise what he actually had to endure or that he was actually my hero until it was too late.

I held his hand as he passed away in 2011. He was only 52. The demon drink took over. I miss him every day and I'm incredibly proud to be big Rabs daughter.

My dad was wonderful. He was intelligent, funny, stubborn and I really couldn't say a bad word about the relationship we shared. My dad passed a few years ago, he was too young. I miss him every day.

Deeply ambitious, hard worker, self effacing. A social chameleon in many ways. Refuses to conform socially, somehow gets away with the combination of defiance and ineptitude. Fiercely intelligent. Shows love and affection in highly idiosyncratic ways that are hard not to be insulted by sometimes.

An enigma.

Thanks.

We had years to prepare as was diagnosed early but the changes you see over time are often seriously hard.

If it ever happens to me I'm straight on a plane to Switzerland.

My dad was a complicated man with some amazing qualities but equally magnificent flaws.

We didn't speak for over a decade but managed to rebuild some sort of relationship before he passed away in 2014.

I have inherited his talent for manipulation, his love of music and his love of language, as well as his gloriously healthy blood pressure and low cholesterol. Thanks dad!

He was an amazing man who worked hard his entire life to provide for his family. He loved his wife more than life itself, done everything for his children and his grandchildren were his little angels. Unfortunately some of this I didn't realise until it was too late

Dead, and best place for him to be honest.

Saying that his actions are your fault is the classic defence of a narcissist. Their gaslighting never stops.

I have a lot of animosity towards my father because he used me to cover for an affair... I'll never forgive him for making me feel like that.

I DO, however, read through the comments from those who have lost their fathers and feel a twinge of emotion that I'm actually lucky he is still alive... Because no matter how he treated me, he's still my dad. I adored him right up until the age of 15, he was my hero..
