Isn't it awful when you get to that stage!

I felt like that towards the end of my working life and eventually was lucky enough to do something about it. Prior to that I would scan the jobs pages and look at recruitment sections of various organisations web sites etc. Do you have skills that would be in demand as a temp?

I'm working outside and its freezing cold I would rather be home in the warm with a warm body keeping me warm if you know what I mean

Maybe a call girl would be a good job I watched a program on it and the woman was a dominatrix and getting paid 1000s a month just sat on her sofa in normal cloths getting guys off over the phone

Oo err Devon

I have two jobs one which I love and doesn't have enough hours to get by on and one I do.. Because I have to... I'm doing a 10 hr shift and made the mistake of looking at the clock already.. Doh!

I often look at the jobs pages... Then look at the requirements for the most basic of job and think.. F that... My degree is somewhat useful but a specialist niche so no much work here in the sw...

Doing something because you have to is soul destroying!

Its true the basic requirements for what should be a simple job are ridiculous now.

I just havent got the energy to go into a new work place- but want to leave the one I'm in.

OP there's a good quote:

"Change nothing, nothing changes"

Most People don't realise they're time on earth is literally a blink of an eye in the grand scale of things, we unfortunately bow down to doing what society dictates we do. We mimic others and race out there to grow up, have kids, get a mortgage, buy unnecessary shite to impress idiots, go on two week holidays...then we stop...and think to ourselves...

what the fuck was all that about...

We can then feel it's too late to do anything, "I've got kids" - "the mortgage won't pay itself" - "oh I wish it was as easy as just changing things" we are naturally lazy creatures and instantly see challenges as problems.

You can wake up tomorrow and be whoever you want if you're willing to knuckle down and see the challenge as new reason to live.

Try watching the YouTube videos on minimilism, when you realise most of life's baggage is just unnecessary crap that keeps you from being free it's quite empowering.

It's never too late to be the person you dreamt you'd be when you were younger.xx

They asked for people to volunteer for redundancy, I did and was accepted. I was in the fortunate position of having certain skills that transferred across the organisation so after a mandatory wait of one month and one day I was able to return on an as needed basis in various capacities in different areas. It meant I could work when I wanted on different roles and projects and most importantly if something came up and I didn't like the people or less importantly the work I could say no. The difference is though that I was over 55 and could draw my private pension, we also sold our house and downsized to enable us both to work less.

One avenue I explored but never went down was local authorities are often looking for temporary workers and I didn't ever sign up with an agency which looking back I regret.

I did look at many different options . I fancied being a train guard at one point and a barista at another.

It's horrible when you don't like your job, I hope you can find a way out.

So true! X

I lived a lot of years on that path - I travelled 6 months a year for 10 years.

Lived in India, barely any possessions.

I had a passion for life and lived it without worrying what was going to happen next.

10 years ago something happened - I got the fear

Started collecting stuff instead of memories and had to take on jobs I hate to pay for it all.

Now I'm trapped in debt and surrounded by stuff that I lived without for so many years.

Bored.

It did and I still stop and appreciate it now. I worked two days a week for six months of the year for a few years and am just coming to the end of my first year of not working for money at all.

I can't tell you the sense of freedom I feel.

Is there any way you can work less?

I can imagine how free you feel!

2 days of work a week is my dream life

I don't want to not work at all - but I'm so tired of the boredom and what feels like Groundhog Day - the same day being repeated over and over again!

I've cut my hours down a bit - but cant afford to go any lower.

A higher salary is the answer - but with higher salaries comes higher stress levels.

I just want to run away

This has now happened at my firm, over 80% of the workforce has been employed for less than 2 years and has an average age of 22 - it’s woke me up, I almost forgot how much you party at that age...... everyday is beer o’clock

I hear ya'

I became extremely bored an found that making the absolute most of my time outside of work helped. I also tried to find something that interested me outside of work that would keep my brain occupied while I was there. It helped in some ways that I was older than you are now so my non work responsibilities were probably different although we had big financial ones.

Do you have hobbies or things that really interest you?
