He’s written some very moving songs and some right stormers too.

One of the most beautiful things I have ever read was his response to a question about grief after he lost his son.

Give Grinderman a listen. It’s his rock-oriented collaboration with some other musicians if you want to hear some harder stuff.

He's a huge favourite. I've been going through a bit of a phase of his music for a couple of months now, including the discovery of Grinderman, which is deliciously sleazy and huge fun.

I'd love to see him on tour but I couldn't do it this time round; Ghosteen left me a bit of an emotional wreck, but one day!

I wasn't expecting the emotional response I had to it, that's for sure.

Not sure whether it was a timing thing but... yes, it was something else.

Stagger Lee is also a great track, O'Mallys Bar if you like the very dark moody stuff - both on the murder ballads album.

I listened to most of it, and it's beautiful, but at the time I just found it too sad. Sounds like a bizarre thing to say but.. Will defo get back around to it. Probbers when the sun starts coming out a bit more!

If you like Nick Cave, check out Tom Waits too!

Also, Nick Cave wrote a brilliant novel called The Life and Death of Bunny Munro which I'd definitely recommend...he also wrote an album designed to go with it and be played as you read the book. Such an awesome concept - a book soundtrack
