So. According to something Fox just read on bookface there's a new viral trend of putting soy sauce on your gonads because apparently you can 'taste' it.

Anyone willing to test the theory?

Because fuck that!!

I talk a lot here about our brain and perceptions. Our sensory systems may receive input from the things that we have around us, visual, sounds, smells etc but our brain is largely where all that input gets processed and becomes our - potentially - recognised via consciousness, as our perception of that sensory experience. Not all of that stimulation gets to our conscious experience as much is filtered out. Much of our taste ckmes from an amalgamation of input via multiple sensory channels, eg what we think of as taste is often smell with taste sensation.

Even if our body has receptors for some sensory data, it doesn't mean that we are particularly able to process it and get conscious perception of it.

To sense something we will need to process the incoming data and create that perception of what would in this instance be a taste. It may be possible but our senses transmit huge volumes of data to our brains already... your balls may be just adding a tiny bit more. My gut feeling is that if you men haven't been tasting much in your balls for years, there's a possibility of an undeveloped system in play. Were these receptors ever used for something else, or are they something that could be of use with greater evolution. We'll normally have such things because there's been an adaptive benefit at some point.

And finally, as smell gets perceived as taste a lot, your brain may perceive tastes on your balls as something in a completely different sense. Are you smelling your own balls?
