Is it ok to flash your headlights when it's dark to acknowledge a car that's pulled over to let you pass or is it far better to beep your horn to say thank you?

I hate to think I'm blinding those courteous enough to actually pull over rather than make me reverse half way up the road!!!

Definitely headlights as a honk of the horn is usually seen as more of a bad thing.

A short headlight flash or double flash is what's most commonly used.

Dont as some people do think that a hand wave works in the dark as you cant see the bloody things hahhaa

when i drive the work wagon i always toot toot the horn before i overtake cyclists to let them know im a big wide vehicle and im passing now, the good ones give an ok wave before im even past the others get all bent out of shape flailing their arms around and gesturing in the mirror lol
