So following on the threads yesterday for best and worst towns to visit which town or city has made a lasting impression for their friendliness and accommodating nature ?

I work with people from around the world who pretty much spend their existance travelling the globe and have had numerous comments about how much they enjoy coming to Birmingham, as they always find people here fairly laid back, friendly and you'll get a straight answer to a question.

My own experience is that most people are pretty decent if you treat them well from the start (apart from a small number of Londoners, Americans and TV production staff, who know it all and walk round with a self important permanent chip on their shoulder )
