Two football threads is fine by me. The CL thread will serve it's purpose, as will this one, a thread dedicated to ALL football, not just the Champion's League.

Congratulation or commiserations to you if your team went up or down. Just the Premier League to sort out now as all the other leagues have finished. Here's the list of who went up and who dropped a league:

~

CHAMPIONSHIP:

Promoted: Reading, Southampton

Play offs: West Ham, Birmingham, Blackpool, Cardiff

Relegated: Portsmouth, Coventry, Doncaster

~

LEAGUE ONE:

--------------------

Promoted: Charlton Athletic, Sheff Wed

Play offs: Sheff Utd, MK Dons, Huddersfield, Stevenage

Relegated: Wycombe Wanderers, Chesterfield, Exeter, Rochdale

~

LEAGUE TWO:

--------------------

Promoted: Swindon, Shrewsbury, Crawley Town

Play offs: Torquay, Southend, Cheltenham, Crewe Alexandra

Relegated: Hereford, Macclesfield

~

CONFERENCE PREMIER:

------------------------------------

Promoted: Fleetwood

Play offs: Wrexham, Mansfield, York, Luton Town

Relegated: Hayes, Darlington, Bath City, Kettering Town

Can I just add league one and Two have not even finished yet there is one game left in them both and automatic promotion is not dun and dusted for the teams mentioned

Out of league on Sheffield utd or Sheffield we'd can go up automatically and Stevenage need to win the last game to get in playoffs

The league two situation is the same too

My apologies, you are quite correct. I could have sworn the BBC football site showed the league 1 & 2 tables as having played 46 games earlier.

I hope Chelsea do beat them, but my instincts are saying they won't. They've ridden their luck this year, and put up a gutsy performance against Barca, but luck has a tendency to run out sooner or later.

Today's the day we find out what champions are made of. I so want United to do City at their ground and get some payback for the 6-1 drubbing they gave us at Old Trafford but they haven't lost at home all season and if I'm brutally honest, as much as it pains me to say it if City don't win it this year they'll do it next year or the year after as their money men don't look like they'll be sailing off into the sunset anytime soon.

So let the best team win and *ptah ptah* good luck City *ptah ptah

If City & United both win United will have to win by 9 more goals than City do in order to go top.

If I'm realistic City will win it sooner or later as I can't see their money men deserting the club if they don't win it this year. (I think I'm mentally preparing myself for them taking the title this year lol)

I actually thought the first goal was better, solely on the basis that I'm not 100% sure the second was intentional. It was a great strike but i'm not sure he intended it to move that much

My goal of the season would be Crouchy's against Man City

Don't really care who wins, but still think it will be Man U. I thought City would beat Utd to go top, but always thought they would drop points at Newcastle. Man U will not make any mistakes now aginst 2 teams already on their hols. Newcastle's win at Chelsea, has still given them a lot to play for, so I see this game deciding the title.

"lol they were happy to pick up all those titles when they were the richest club"

You mean those NINETEEN titles.

City will have to win the title 16 years on the trot from this year on to just EQUAL United's record. City may have turned a corner and found themselves in title contention year after year, but they won't win it every year and will have a long wait to overhaul United's tally. I'll give them this ONE as a sort of 'come on then' gesture.

not at all. Proper United fans have been waiting for today to happen, there is no real surprise, this is the worst United side Ive seen at this level since before Ferguson came to OT. Given how poor United have beem, the only surprise is that it may only be Goal Difference that separates the sides at the end.

for me a proper fan of a club can see, and accept, thier own team is as good/bad or indifferent as they ever have been.

like SOME liverpool fans that swear Daglish's team is as good now as he was when he won the title with the team, or Villa fans that seem to think the club is still a big one, instead of realising they have been slipping for the last 2 seasons, and on it goes.

rose tinted specs are NOT part of a fans match day clothing lol

United didn't lose the title today, it was lost over the 38 games we played and City played theirs just that little bit better.

I said back in October that Champions don't lose 6-1 at home to their fiercest rivals, and that has proved prophetic. As lover of football City winning the PL is good for the game, but I wouldn't have admitted that before today as I wanted my team to win.

Credit where credit is due though, they didn't give up in the dying minutes of today's game against QPR and it paid off for the blue side of Manchester.

Long live Football, which was the true winner today.

Mancini will be long gone from City before City have even made a dent in United achievements, so they'll still be the 'noisy neighbours' but just that little bit noisier for a while.

Well done City. As a Liverpool fan the best years for me were when us and Everton were fighting it out for the top honours (hope to get back there one day) so city getting better and better should excite the united fans as well. Winning a well fought title is always that little bit sweeter.
