When your child’s dreams are crushed

My son has played football from age 4, he’s been with EFC, LFC, signed a contract with LFC age 11-13, was released, went to Blackburn rovers. He’s 15 now and been released. So so crushing for him. But he is very very intelligent and he’s just done his GCSE maths and chemistry early and got an 8, ( which is an A)

He’s a scholarship for a private school as he’s so talented in his maths and science, but he’s so gutted about his football.

Don’t you feel so hurt for your kids when they hurt, I felt like crying for him

Aww bless him! It is horrible when all you want to do is take that hurt from them, but you know he will come out stronger and he has the potential to acheive absolutely anything he wishes too.

You sound like an amazing Mum with every right to be proud

Ok, so this path was not for him, he will find another path...

It doesn't have to be the end, they are good clubs to have on his CV why not try other clubs, or lower league clubs

He’s crushed , he’s got other clubs interested obviously but he’s just so gutted

So hard for him and me, I’ve been there with him from 5 year old , right up. I’ve traveled everywhere, Europe including when he was with LFC. Brilliant footy family, and all of a sudden it’s kinda crushed, but hey at least he’s a clever boy so he can go on to something else x

What like tennis ? He plays for Merseyside and Knowsley and has done for Lfc Efc Blackburn, so what sport do you suggest ? Soft ball?

Down here he would probably do well as Plymouth and truro are lower league and grow players from the local area.

Our son loves football but hes no football player. Like yours hes very academic though.

Must be awful for him to see his dream ending though

Just encourage him to keep at it,football is full of players who were let go by clubs when they were young, look at Liverpools Andy Robertson for a great example, let go by Celtic the team he supported at 15 played amateur for Queens Park 4 years later he is at Liverpool on his way to becoming one of the best full backs in the world. Not everyones journey to the top is the same.

When my daughter turned 10 in October and was able to fight 10-12 year olds in kickboxing and went from light contact to continuous that was hard to watch her fights, especially when she was getting hurt. I wanted to pull her out but she doesn’t want to!

Kind of understand why my mother wouldn’t come to my fights as I got older cos she said she couldn’t watch it.

I’ve said this to him, he’s very technical, and has an eye for a goal position? But he’s smaller, and they want big lads. He will do well. But if it’s his attitude ( LFC released him because of his attitude) he needs more drive

I understand that must of been hard. It’s kinda different in football, you can’t play up or down. But Thankyou for your kind words , means a lot x
