A big no. No matter the length of time, it’s always a face to face conversation

Definitely no. Face to face or at least a voice or video call. Text or msg is the cowards way out.

Not the best way, but I would rather get a text, than someone being with me because they couldn't pluck up the courage to tell me to my face.

"Not the best way, but I would rather get a text, than someone being with me because they couldn't pluck up the courage to tell me to my face."

That's true.

Also it might not be possible to see the person face to face. But if you're likely to run into them socially it would be really awkward if you'd texted them to break it off.

I had a Dear John letter once. That hurt, especially as my name isn't John.

He’s been seeing a woman for a few months and wanted to know if it was ok to dump her through text xxx

Just do it for the giggles and science!

It's all down to the type of person you are, so you know the answer to your own question anyway.

Had it done to me in more ways than one and its shitty. It's shitty however you are told but at least face to face it shows respect for the person. They can see and hear your emotion as you end it.

I don't think it is. At least a phone call, but best in person.

@OP that isn't okay. Just have a face to face conversation. It definitely shows more respect that way.

On a mooch

If you don’t have the guts to do it face to face you can at least do, is have a phone conversation and explain, rather than text tennis

Nothing worse than coming home to a piece of paper, with two lines on it !

That is true, without seeing the original OP and how it was worded

That's one missed out in the lyrics "Forty ways to leave your lover" was it Simon and Garfunkel?

It's never a good way to do it.

But on the other hand I'd rather not have to try to withhold how I was actually feeling if they were to do it to my face!!

He didn't say that. He said something along the lines of 'is it ok to break it off with someone by text if you've been seeing them for a couple of months" not that he was intending to do it

If it's a romantic relationship then face to face, if it's someone from fab you've been meeting regularly for sex only, I think text is fine. I'd be OK with that.

I I wasn't feeling it with someone and they messaged me to say bye..I don't think I'd really mind.

Maybe they just got there first and saves on a face to face.
