January self acceptance

Manchester (she/her)

It's January, atone, starve, flog yourself thin.

Nope. It's just another month and you've got to live with yourself. If you gym or diet great, but it's not punishment.

How are you doing drowning out the January shame nonsense and accepting yourself as you are?

January originated from the Roman god Janus who looked back and forwards at the same time.

I'm heading to the gym later for pain management and because I like it.

I'm on a diet because it helps me not because I hate myself.

My other self improvement stuff is also about me loving myself and wanting to be better.

I'm throwing myself into 'life'. Given up on trying to lose weight, I like food and drink too much and have zero willpower to exercise, unless it's sex. I buy elasticated jeggings and accept how I am x

You could have hidden them, that is still classified as will power

It's just another month and I've never made a resolution ever! But I started my back to fitness (I can't go and do what I want until I'm fit enough to do it) journey in December before Christmas just because I have a plan!

Unfortunately, when the pack was gifted to me I had an office full of people behind me - staring at me! There was no hiding anything after that

La la land

Decided that it's a month like any other. However, did take time out over Christmas, and did some self analysis. Finally accepted some of my traits, and that I'm actually ok.

I have no problem at all drowning out the nonsense. I'm happy being me, if others don't like me that is fine.

Never was one to be persuaded by peer pressure or society to do anything.

Stoptober is pointless as I don't drink much anyway, no interest in veganism and like food far too much to be skinny.

That's not to say that I don't try to be fit and healthy, but it's on my terms.

Never gone in for the January rejuvenating business. You can make life changing decisions any time of the year if you need to

Offices are a fucking nightmare. My mostly female colleagues are basically Michelin standard bakers who are always feeding everybody amazing tasting shit.

Hard to always say no but ultimately I like being in shape more than I like being fat.

So yeah new year is more of the same for me.

Last year, I lost 20lb through dieting & exercise. Felt better about myself and I could fit back into my clothes. (Also brought my blood sugar levels back down to normal).

Since then, I've put 18lb of it back on and I feel shit again... plus, new clothes I'd bought, are now too tight to wear

Started again with the diet and if this lousy weather would gimme a break, I'd be back out there doing the 5 mile walks every day.

Could do with losing some weight but don't lose sleep over it, no bedroom gymnastics for me either. I am struggling with IBS flare ups so on a purge to calm my system down. I'm starving btw aaargh!!

I'm with you except the first & last lines....actually i'm not so sure about the bit in the middle either

But my weight goes up & down like a yoyo, I thought i'd put on a lot, don't weigh myself often & scales say i'm up 3lbs.. woop de woop, but I can drop a stone with no diet or exercise, but then put it back on without going mad on the food & drink as well..

As long as I can see my winky when standing up i'm happy enough
