A world of my own

If you were off on hols by yourself and decided you wanted company, would you ever consider advertising for a travel companion to join you or would you just go alone?

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

Always go alone.

The problem is usually fighting off people who feel sorry for you and keep inviting you to join them

Im so anti-social

I don't think I would as id feel obliged to spend time with them even if I did'nt really get on with them and then id have to kill them and hide the body

sitting on a hotel balcony watching the sun set over lake garda

watching the lights of the town below go and their twinkling reflections on the lake

a light warm wind circulating round me

a bottle of red wine, some fresh crusty bread and a leg of crisp rosemary infused lamb

left alone with the scene and my thoughts

a moment never to be recreated and one i get to share now cos you got me thinking OP

Newcastle and Gateshead

there is something about just going somewhere by yourself and exploring/relaxing that is just really liberating... i love it....

just do everything in your own time at your own pace....

I've never done this, I used to get panic attacks for years but since being single it's been such a liberating thing, even just going to other towns/cities to meet up with friends.

More recently though I keep thinking how lovely it would be to just bugger off on a long weekend someplace relaxing on my own ... maybe just to prove I can

I'd like to do that

Go it alone for certain!

Nothing worst than being stuck with someone who has very different travelling style and requirements as myself, just ask my ex-husband!

A world of my own

As said, I HAVE been going alone for years, first time was in 1999 and I loved it, went to Zakynthos in Greece (I had been before but only with family), I loved it and have never had a problem, yes its great to do what you like, when you like, no one to answer to etc.

I go to the same place in Rhodes most years now and I have made lots of great friends there. But at the mo I just feel I want company, want to share the experience, must be getting old! lol.

I would go alone, and I have done. I'd never even booked into a hotel on my own but in 2008 I decided that I could do this, so taking the bull by the horns I went to New York on my own.

I want to go to Hong Kong, Toyko and Dubai too, and no doubt I will be doing this on my own. I'm the only one in the family that wants to go to these places and I'm not scared of venturing alone

I used to travel on my own all the time too, all around the world! But it's nice sometimes to go with someone.

Why not advertising for a travel companion, however well in advance. You'd rather find a new friend who you can travel with than going with a stranger!

But if you're not successful you know very well how to do it on your own!

Good luck!

Sheffield

I'm considering this as I'm going on a party holiday to new Orleans for my (ahem) birthday this year.

I was all set to go alone, as I have done many times, but then I invited a friend and we got all keen about what we would get up to, then it all fell through and he's unable to come.

So now that I've been thinking about sharing it with a friend I'm now considering who to invite.
