Somewhere In The Ether…

I only recently discovered that both in captivity and in a few rare instances in the wild, that Polar bears and Grizzly’s can produce hybrid offspring.

Sometimes referred to as grolar bears, polar ’s, polizzle’s, pizzly bear’s or nanulak‘s.

Well....I found it fascinating at least.

Anyway, what is your favourite variety of bear?

(I will accept Teddy Bears for anyone timid of these might mammals).

Incidentally, do you happen to know how Teddy Bears got their name? It is derived from American President, Theodore (Ted) Roosevelt who ostensibly had a love (and sizeable collection) of them.

No need to thank me

Travelling

Bears are amazing creatures.

Did you know Pandas in the wild often have 2 cubs, but only one survives. This is because the mother tends to "forget" she has a second cub and all of the energy is put in to just one of them.

In captivity then need to trick the mother in to caring for both, making her think it is the same baby.

That would be a truly cute critter

In the meantime though, this clip is simultaneously wonderfully cute yet a little sad.....

One of my cats is called Jack Bear. I'll choose him, please! We have black bears back home who come into the garden on occasion and drink from the pool. They're cute, but I wouldn't cuddle one

There’s been a few stories on the news recently involving Black Bears becoming ever more prevalent in residential areas in the US.

One quite funny story involved a family coming back home and being somewhat shocked to find a bear sitting in their house. It sounded like a role reversal, re-envisioned version of Goldilocks
