Just had an Msg on mobile asking me to ring as there was an issue with my NI number. Be warned and don't play their game.

I had a text from the HMRC saying I had a £485.85 tax refund, just click on the link. I posted on here to ask if HMRC sent texts, and got the right advice

They do send texts ... I get reminders to submit my self assessment from them.

They don't however send links or details of refunds or penalties etc. just that you have a message from them and you need you login to the secure portal.

That was the advice I got. I never clicked on the link

I sometimes text them back and thank them for the message to a premium rate service.

They left a voice mail too but that was an electronic voice
