One for the vinyl geeks.

So did anyone other than me know that it was Record store day on Saturday.

A day when you get a chance to support your local record/music shop.

The were many limited releases on this day...400 or more...did you purchase any...

"*Rushes off for new stylus*"

At least you still have a turntable...the younger generation are also now finding out about vinyl...it's turntables that is the struggle to purchase...

Mp3's and the like just dont sound like vinyl do they? A well known musician once said that listening to downloaded, compressed music was like taking a shower under icecubes - the music hits you but unlike water it doesnt wash all over you, you arent 'immersed' in it. I got that completely! Ah, for my old turntable and gable end sized speakers!!

You are right...but you must have the correct equipment to help produce that immersive sound...

Big speaker come in handy...

Don't think it's that much of a struggle I reckon youngsters know more places to buy them than we do

Reading the lyrics off the sleeve on the bus ride home, the smell of the cover... take me back

I believe this is the reason that vinyl is slowly but surely coming back into fashion...the sleeves, the colours, the feel, the smell all add to the collectability of them...

I acquire more vinyl and i was unaware of the "record day", somehow it has passed me by.

It's OK knocking CD's , MP3's and the like but the day i can play vinyl in my car ( and not have it warped like a pringle ) is the day i will cream my pants.

There are lots of ways to get vinyl converted to mp3 so you can play in you can...dont try to clean the sound...then it even sounds like vinyl should...
