Bodybuilder and Powerlifter appreciation thread

So I find both bodybuilders and powerlifters incredibly hot and I know a lot of ladies agree with me.

Muscle men reveal yourselves as either bodybuilder or powerlifter and ladies who like them please show your appreciation x

Ignore the haters. If you body build in the gym and train for powerlifting then that's what you are. I think the negative comments are completely missing the point of this thread which is to show appreciation for the men and women in these fields regardless of what level they are operating at. I love all levels

Think you will find

If a person uses a variety of methods to build muscle they are a body builder

If a person builds their body and enters comps they would be a competitive body builder

Your analogy is poor

I kite surf. mountain bike and climb

When asked its reasonable to say I'm a kite surfer climber and mountain biker

I dont generally say I bodybuild as my focus is more wellbeing however technically I also bodybuild

Correct

Now if i was to say im a pro bodybuilder thatd be incorrect.

I see you dont like serotonin endorphins or strength ?

In life I have found for us to learn and achieve we have to practice repetitively things we may not be so keen on

I dont particularly enjoy reciting French back to my mp3 however the benefits of the activities vastly outweigh any slight negative thought anyone may wish to implant

Bodybuilding is an art, people can spend years sculpturing their body so it deserves recognition. I think it’s easy for those who don’t or haven’t trained in the past to ridicule but I’m sure most people respect a perfectly chiseled physique when they see one, men and women.

Powerlifting is arguably more niche and certainly more hardcore. Both require a strict diet but a power lifter has to consistently lift heavier weights to get stronger therefore they need huge amounts of calories, protein and carbs to fuel the muscles and give the required energy. There is also very little need for cardio so it cannot he considered healthy, but I respect it nevertheless as the weights some powerlifters lift are incredible!

I remember the first day I benched 100kg and thought I was strong, there are guys who rep double that in powerlifting and the world record is 335kg!

As the thread was about appreciation I’m sure we can all appreciate that!

I appreciate the strength of power lifters massively. The world records are amazing.

Can't really say it's a way I'd want to look myself though. There's a reason why they don't drug test too.

Indeed. If anyone wants to see the effects of steroids, take a look at Brock Lesnar’s physique before and after he started to get drug tested regularly by the USADA, after he failed a test in 2016 which was mysteriously quashed due to a “technicality”..!

There are both tested and untested feds in powerlifting.

Some immensely strong guys in both and the dedication required doesn't change with drug use.

The standard at the very top is ridiculous. Numbers I will never hit, have to be realistic.

Aim this year is to total over 700kg, long term goal 800kg total.

Some way off the 1000kg totals some guys put up.

"Just want to point out how bad it is for your body, puts so much stress on your vascular system

This is very true however there are various different types of training.

Myself I don't lift heavy weights.

I'm form is a combination of negatives and positives.

But most important is getting your diet right

But its extremely unhealthy to have under 20% body fat, people dehydrate themselves for days to hit targets, it's dangerous man, you do you of course and I wont judge or stop you, just know the risks and how to mitigate them

Under 20% body fat is unhealthy? For men? Don't be daft. If true I spent the first 30 years, give or take, being unhealthy. Pretty healthy now though by your measure "

This.

Most elite athletes are under 20 percent body fat and are extremely healthy.

10 percent body fat has generally always been recognised as the limit but it’s so hard to get below that level (requires an immense amount of training and very very strict diet) that it’s only usually competing bodybuilders who are at risk.

They then take it further by the dehydration period before a contest and many have indeed been known to feint on stage because of this.

I think you probably need to put in to context that the majority of bodybuilders don’t compete, will probably on average be between 16-25% and still look great and healthy.

It is only the elite that dare to venture in to unhealthy levels of body fat for competition.

As for vascular health - For power lifters on a bad diet doing no cardio sure it can be very bad, but your average bodybuilder who probably puts in at least 15-45 mins of cardio every day or every other day are they at more risk than someone who doesn’t train or exercise much and probably doesn’t watch what they eat as much?

"Most so called bodybuilders have skinny legs

Err I think not

Bloody right they do..

The trolling is getting embarrassing now. A few times you’ve tried to start an argument on this thread.

No I haven't "

Odd that some can be so irritated that they attempt to write posts apparently deliberately designed to insult

Here's the thing if a person illustrates they, maybe wilfully ?dont wish to understand the potential benefits it will be totally pointless giving them any insight

I will however admit skiing deep powder all day and climbing mountains all day is utterly useless to society

However 2 things

Today I harmed no one in society or wished them harm

My serotonin levels are through the roof and I'm smiling

Absolutely fucking pointless I know hey ho

Now then my friend. Would you like to talk directly to me about my personal experience and health vs your internet sound bites and at the same time we may need to discus hard statisticall evidence regarding health issues and Male visceral fat often evidenced in a term for men called skinny fat that means a rounded tummy and low body muscle density maybe if you displayed a photo I could comment on your physical condition?

Really not from where I'm resting right now . My levels are sky high . I think you will find my above comment arrived in a very calm and measured mind . Do you not think I can have a wry smile whilst questioning something I feel malevolent?

I may note , your reply was what maybe termed an ad hominem

(Ad hominem (Latin for "to the person"), short for argumentum ad hominem, typically refers to a fallacious argumentative strategy whereby genuine discussion of the topic at hand is avoided by instead attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself.)

Again I practise breathing control thus such comments will not raise cortisol

And I'm eating a lush nutritionally balanced breakfast ready for a balls deep encounter in the white fluffy stuff my positive hormone balance is tickety boo thank you . My current body fat btw is 7 percent been less than 10 for quite a while

Oh

"So I find both bodybuilders and powerlifters incredibly hot and I know a lot of ladies agree with me.

Muscle men reveal yourselves as either bodybuilder or powerlifter and ladies who like them please show your appreciation x"

Don't be silly, everyone knows from the bi-weekly "Dad bod vs gym bod" threads that women love dad bods, and that anyone who steps foot in a gym is a boring, self-obsessed douche
