Or confident people that are also arrogant.

Blurred lines and overlaps between the two. But that is essentially it, when the confidence appears to be or is arrogance

A quiet confidence I think is what is liked. It's not part of their personality or their being, it is just there without any effort of brash larger than life "look at me" about it.

I think insecure people can dislike confident people. I don't think it's gender specific. I had a man dislike me for the 4 years he knew me because early on he called me unattractive for swearing at my own flat party at university and my response was that I didn't need him to be attracted to me. We ended up living in the same big house the next year and I tried to be nice but he just never wanted to know and seemed annoyed that everyone else we lived with was friends with me. Some men also seem to prefer insecure women as they're easier to manipulate which is a bit sick.

Some insecure women can also dislike other women for being confident but I don't think most women do at all.

The loud mouth, cocky types of any gender are annoying to most but they usually aren't actually confident people. It's usually a persona to mask a lot of deep seated insecurity.

There are areas of my life where I'm very confident. I'm brilliant at my job, I s_ine and I like to have my expertise acknowledged.

As a man that would be confidence, as a woman it's sometimes seen as arrogant. So be it, call me arrogant and watch me not care.

Thankfully as I reach more senior positions I find I'm valued for my strength rather than criticised for it.

It is my opinion that confidant people are hated for various reasons. Maybe they come off ad arrogant or cocky... Have a holier than thou type of attitude. Or maybe they're hated because of jealousy. Like you see a person with nice things they dress nice so on and so on. So in turn they exude that confidence and swagger. Meanwhile a person not as well off looks at the successful confidant person like damn i want that why can't that be me...

Those are just two examples as to why confidant people are hated.

Again... Just my opinion

God help a woman who isn't classically attractive displaying confidence for she will be described as "above herself" or "up her own arse".

Reverse snobbery is real? No, surely not.

I do think though that women (and men and tvs etc) shouldn't tear each other down. Do away with the assumptions that someone who is confident is a twat and up themselves. Fuck the belief that if someone is lacking in confidence they are doing it to play games or get attention. Take people as they are and lift each other up instead of casting negative aspersions.
